Mrs. E.M. (Lettie) Hurst

Mrs E M Hurst, Canso, Jan 1,
the death of Lettie [Lottie?] May Hurst,
wife of E M Hurst, a former collector of Customs,
occurred yesterday following a brief illness.
The late Mrs Hurst, who was formerly Miss Lettie [Lottie?] May McDuff,
of White Head, was 38 years old.
The deceased was active in the Catholic Women's League
and at the time of her passing was Secretary for the Canso branch.
She was also a member of the married Women's sodality.
Surviving are her husband and four children,
Edith, George, Patricia and Harold Patrick, four months old.
She is also survived by five stepchildren,
Mrs R J laMourex, Montreal; Mrs Gerald Hensbee (sic), Halifax;
Margaret, Glace Bay; Reta and Frances at home.
Surviving also are four sisters and two brothers,
Mrs Fred Kingsbury, Wollaston, Mass; Mrs Carl Hardy, Quincy, Mass;
Mrs Harry McDuff, Fox Island; Miss Edith McDuff of Canso;
one sister predeceased her by a number of years.
Joshua McDuff of Boston and Glieson (sic) McDuff of Wollston (sic), Mass, are brothers.
Burial took place this morning in the Star of the Sea Church cemetery.
