Mrs. Catherine A. Murdoch

Sherbrooke, May 25 -
The death occurred at her home here today,
of Mrs. Catherine A. Murdoch, widow of Captain William J. Murdoch,
at the age of 82. Mrs. Murdoch continued to be active
almost up to the time of her death,
so her demise came as a shock to the community
in which she was held in very high esteem.
She was a leading worker in many organizations of the local Presbyterian Church.

The late Mrs. Murdoch spent nearly every winter in recent years
with her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Nickerson, at Edmonton
and formerly at Vancouver. Mr. Nickerson is supervisor
at the Royal Bank of Canada. This past winter she spent with another daughter,
who is the wife of Doctor L.B. Densmore of Bathurst, N.B.
She is also survived by two sisters and one brother,
Mrs. Emma Wood, Honolulu, Hawaii; Mrs. J.G. MacDonald, Sherbrooke;
and John H. McLean of Sherbrooke, one other brother, Doctor Will MacLean
of Newfoundland, died several years ago. Also surviving are two grandsons,
William and Kenneth Nickerson, the former a student at Dalhousie Medical School
and two granddaughters, Catherine and Grace Densmore.

Mrs. Murdoch travelled extensively over the world,
visiting her sister in Honolulu on many occasions. She was the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacLean, the former being one of the pioneer merchants
of Sherbrooke and living to a ripe old age of 94.

The funeral will be held from her late residence on Tuesday afternoon
at 2:30 with internment in the local cemetery.
