Mrs. Alex Sutherland

Goshen – Mrs. Alex Sutherland, 38, of Goshen,
died Wednesday in St. Mary’s Hospital, Sherbrooke.
Born in Glenelg, Guysborough County, she was the former Joan MacDonald,
a daughter of the late Wallace and Alice (Mitchell) MacDonald.
She lived in Halifax and in New Glasgow
before moving to Goshen five years ago.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, New Glasgow,
and was active in Kings United Church, Loch Katrine,
Goshen Gospel Church, Goshen. She was a member of the
Goshen Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary,
the Canadian Cancer Society and St. Mary’s Home and School Association.
Until her illness, she was coordinator of
St. Mary’s Homemakers Service. While living in Halifax,
she was employed with Maritime Tel and Tel
and in New Glasgow with Scott Paper and Sobeys.
Surviving besides her husband, Alex, are two sons,
Jamie and Matthew; a daughter, Angela,
all at home; two sisters, Helen (Mrs. Bruce Archibald),
Glenelg; Betty (Mrs. Alex MacKenzie), Antigonish;
four brothers, Bill and Ralph, both of Glenelg;
Grant, Elmsdale; Earle, Antigonish.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Wallace Scott.
The body is in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater,
Guysborough County. Funeral will be 2 p.m.
Saturday in Country Harbour Baptist Church,
Rev. Brian Wheaton officiating, with burial in the Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society.
