Hall Of Famer Mills Dies At 62

Harvey Marshall Mills - 62,
Halifax, died Monday in Victoria General Hospital.
Born in Moosejaw, Sask., he was a son of
the late Clifford Waldo and Margaret Edith (Smith).
He was a veteran of the Second World War
and was retired from the Royal Canadian navy
as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was very active
in sports in Nova Scotia and was involved with several national champions,
including Saint Mary's Huskies, Acadia Axemen, Ottawa Roughriders,
and the Shearwater Flyers Dominion Champions. He was a
member of the athletic staff at the University of Alberta
in Edmonton, and worked as special functions manager
at St. Mary's University. He was inducted into
the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. He was an officer
of Athole Masonic Lodge and a member of Vimy Branch, Royal Canadian Legion.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Hayter;
two daughters, Nancy Villeneuve, LaBaie, Quebec; Jayne deVillers,
Fall River; a son, Ron, Halifax. He was predeceased by a sister,
Joyce Bussey. The body is in Snow's Funeral Home,
Windsor Street, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Wednesday,
where the Royal Canadian Legion, Vimy Branch 27,
will hold a memorial service 7 p.m. today,
a masonic service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, and a memorial service
will be held 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. John C. Smith officiating.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mark's Church, Halifax.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery Port Bickerton, Guysborough County.
Rev. Greg MacMullin officiating. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Fund.
