JACOB T. ANDERSON – Boylston, Feb. 4,---

Boylston’s Grand Old Man
in the person if J.T. Anderson has passed away.
He was 92 on Jan. 18.
Although not enjoying good health for the past three years,
he was able to be active until about six weeks ago
when seized with a very severe stroke from which
he failed to recover.
Mr. Anderson lived here (Boylston) practically all his life
and as a young man started a general merchandise business,
which he conducted successfully until a few years ago,
which he was forced due to his declining years
to pass over to his son John G. Anderson.

He was a faithful member of the Baptist Church
and in former years was actively associated with
the work of the church, Superintendent and teacher
of the Sunday School and at the time of passing
was a senior Deacon of the church.
He assisted in the building of the church,
where he worshipped and was also instrumental
in the building of the Manchester Baptist Church.

The deceased was a keen Bible student.
He read his daily paper for years
without the aid of glasses.

The deceased was twice married,
first wife being Miss Sarah Torey of Port Shoreham
and from this union two sons and two daughters were born.
John G. and Burton T. Anderson the latter,
who died five years ago.
Mrs. W.A. Bruce (Gertrude) of this place
and Mrs. Sanford- Dixon, Merritt BC.

His second wife was Sarah Simpson,
Boylston and by this marriage one daughter
Miss Florence Anderson at present teaching
in the public school at Milton, Queens County survives.
Mrs. Liela Swailes, wife of Cpl. Swailes
of the RCMP Detachment, Kentville and Mrs. Lawrence Hackett,
Newport RI. Are grand-daughters.

The funeral of Jacob T. Anderson
was held on Friday, a short service being held
at his late residence followed by service in the United Baptist Church
conducted by Rev. Francis J. Scoates, pastor of the United Church,
in the absence of Rev. A.P. Hunt, who was prevented
from being present by snow blocked roads.
The minister stressed the lifelong fidelity of Mr. Anderson
in his church and community. For more than sixty years
he conducted a general store here.

Born in Manchester, he spent the whole of his long life
in this area. Just two weeks ago he passed
his 92nd birthday. The immediate survivors are
his sorrowing wife, son John, and daughters
Gertrude and Florence.

Interment was made in the United Baptist Cemetery.
