FUNERAL SERVICE HELD FEB. 20 FOR MRS. C. WHIDDEN

SHERBROOKE - Mrs. Charles Whidden passed away at the home
of her eldest son, Maurice, South St., Halifax
on Wednesday evening, Feb. 17, following several months of sickness.
Mrs. Whidden, the former Eva Floretta Oickle,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Oickle, was born at Dalhouside, Kings Co., in 1892.
She is survived by her husband and four sons, Maurice, Halifax, Fred,
Goderich, Ont., Basil and Cecil, both of Stillwater,
two daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Morris Verge),
Halifax, and Ethel (Mrs. Thomas MacIntosh), Stillwater.
One son, Gordon, predeceased her in 1945.
She was also predeceased by 13 grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 20, from the Campbell Memorial Church
with the pastor, Mr. I. Frank Canning, officiating.
The following hymns were sung: "The Old Rugged Cross", "Abide With Me"
and "Shall We Gather at the River." Miss Mildred MacMillan was organist.
Interment was in the family plot at Waternish Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Harold Whidden, Hugh Macdonald, Lawrence Demmons,
Bertie Weir, and Morris Verge, and Clyde Nauss, both of Halifax.
