Ellsworth Demmons

HILLSIDE - Ellsworth Demmons, 68,
of Hillside, Pictou County, died Sunday as the result
of a farm tractor accident in Smithfield, Guysborough County.
Born in Smithfield, he was a son of the late Isaac
and Mary Jane (Whidden) Demmons. He was a member of
Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton,
of the Steel Town Friendly Group and a resident of Hillside
for over 30 years. Prior to his retirement he was an employee
of the City of Dartmouth. Surviving besides his wife,
the former Christina Walsh, are five daughters, Gertrude at home;
Terry (Mrs. Martin Peters), Hillside; Peggy (Mrs. Douglas Marshall),
Edmonton, Alta., Elaine (Mrs. Elson Benjamin), New Glasgow
and Minnie (Mrs. George Heighton), Kingston, Ont., two brothers,
Lawrence, Smithfield; and George in Detroit; three sisters:
Gussie, Smithfield; Lillian (Mrs. Fred MacGrath), Aspen;
Monica (Mrs. Charles Dickie) Framingham, Mass.; eight granchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Joseph in infancy,
several brothers and sisters. The body in at
the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be today
at 2 p.m. from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church,
Trenton, Rev. Leonard MacKinnon officiating.
The body will then be transferred
to the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Stillwater, Guysborough County.
Committal service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Waternish cemetery.
