McConnell - at Port Hilford, Guysborough County, N.S.,
February 24th, Sara A., beloved wife of Captain Jas. McConnell,
aged sixty-four years. Sister McConnell professed faith in Christ
many years ago and was baptized by the late Rev. Henry Eagles.
For more than two years our sister was in very feeble health
caused by paralysis. Her faith was in her Saviour.
At one time, when it seemed as if any hour might be her last,
she said to the writer, "I know my life is very uncertain,
but it is all right. 'I know whom I have believed.' "
Mrs. McConnell's hospitality was proverbial. Her home was always open
to receive the stranger. She cared for the ministers as though they
belonged to her family, and gave freely of her time and means
in support of the church. Her kindness is highly appreciated.
Besides her husband, two sons and three daughters survive her;
Judson and Allen, of Port Hilford, and Mrs. E. Lawson, of Sherbrooke;
Mrs. David Reed, of Port HIlford, and Mrs. George Hurst,
of Halifax. As no Baptist minister was in reach,
Rev. Allen Simpson, Presbyterian, of Sherbrooke,
kindly conducted the funeral. Bro. McConnell and family
have our sincerest sympathy in their sad bereavement.
