Percy Archibald dies in Antigonish

ARCHIBALD, Percy A.H. -- 67,
87 Hawthorne Street, Antigonish,
died Sunday in St. Martha's Hospital.
Born in Glenelg, Guysborough County,
he was a son of the late Elwyn and Catherine (Archibald) Archibald.

He was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and McGill University.

He served overseas as a lieutenant in the West Nova Scotia Regiment.

He was employed with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and the Department of Veterans Affairs prior to entering private business.
At the time of his death, he was president of Archibald Motors Ltd.. Archibald Bus Company and Antigonish Electrical Enterprises.

He was a member of St. James United Church.
He served as an elder and a member of choir and on several committees.

He was a member of Arras Branch, Royal Canadian Legion.
He served on the St. Martha's Hospital Board and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
He was a past-president of the Antigonish Highland Society and the Nova Scotia Liberal Association.
He was a commissionaire with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission.
He was director on several boards, including the Bank of Canada and Seabright Resources Inc.
He also incorporated Braeside Bowling Ltd. And Antigonish Cable Vision.
He was an avid sports fisherman, bowler and golfer.

He is survived by his wife, the former Doris Simpson;
three sons,
Dale, Antigonish;
Brent, Kentville;
Sandy, Sydney
three daughters,
Lynn (Mrs. Brian Knudsen) Belleville, Ont.;
Jane (Mrs. Brian McMillan), Sackville;
Shari, Antigonish;
a brother, Lester, St. Andrews, N.B.;
a sister, Myra, Peabody, Mass.;
and nine grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. James United Church, Antigonish.
Rev. Ralph Webber officiating.
Burial will be in Glenelg Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at their home at 87 Hawthorne Street, Antigonish.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to any charity.
