HOWARD TURNER

MARIE JOSEPH - Howard Sidney Turner, 85,
Marie Joseph, Guysborough County, died Friday
in Victoria General Hospital.

Born in Marie Joseph, he was a son of
the late Henry and Matilda (Jewers) Turner.

He worked in the fishing industry for 25 years.
He was a councillor for the Municipality of St. Mary's
for 47 years and was warden of the municipality for many years.

He was a life member of St. Matthew's Church, Marie Joseph.
He was a member of the LOL and LOBA and the Black Chapter
of Ecum Secum for more than 50 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Mae (Mrs. Bill Barkhouse),
Marie Joseph; Mrs. Marion Washington, Ottawa;
three sons, Harlan, Trenton, Ont.; Elin, Marie Joseph;
Huntley, Cape Breton; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
a sister, Jessie, Halifax.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Alma Lunds;
one son, Lebert; one sister, Annie;
three brothers, Ralph, Frederick and John; a grandson, Basil Jr.

The remains are resting in Ecum Secum Funeral Home.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday
in St. Matthew's Church, Marie Joseph,
with interment in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to St. Mary's Memorial Hospital Fund.
