NICKERSON, James Curtis - 81,
Hazel Hill, died May 4, 1998,
at home. Born in Canso, he was a son of
the late James and Lola (Bush) Nickerson.
He was a veteran of the Second World War,
serving with the Canadian Army, Armoured Corps 8,
New Brunswick Fusiliers in England, Italy, France,
Belgium, Holland and Germany. Following the war,
he served as the postmaster of Hazel Hill for 16 years.
He was an adherent of the Canso United Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Beatrice Manuel;
daughters, Connie Haines, Terrace, B.C.;
Nancy Dodge, Port Bickerton; Liza, Eastern Passage;
sons, Curtis, Halifax; Jim, Jeddore; sisters,
Thelma (Mrs. Arthur Macaloon), Florida; brother, Winfred,
Hazel Hill; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by brother, James Bush; a grandson.
Funeral was Friday in Canso United Baptist Church,
Rev. David Wheeler officiated. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations to Canso United Baptist Church.
