Bushell, R.Lee Scott,
F/O Ret’d C.D., C.V.S.M. & CLASP, S.S.M, B.Sc

79, Cameron Kinney Hill, Saltsprings, Antigonish County,
died March 13, 1999, in St Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Antigonish, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Canso,
he was a son of the late Sidney and Letitia (Hart) Bushell.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served
in the RCAF from 1940-1945. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick,
Fredericton, in 1952 with a B.Sc in Forestry Engineering.
He rejoined the RCAF in 1952 as a Construction Engineering Officer
until he retired in 1965. He joined the Nova Scotia Provincial Government
as a District Forester and worked in Windsor and Antigonish,
retiring in 1981. He was a member for 50 years of the
Royal Canadian Legion and recently with Area Branch 59, Antigonish.
He was an honorary member of the Eastern Anglers Club, Guysborough Co.
and a member of NSGREA. He was a member of the Socan Society
of Composers and Music Publishers, with his own company,
Lookout Hill Music. He was a registered CKC dog breeder
and was co-owner of Bushellianan Kennels, Saltsprings.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, inventor, musician,
songwriter, gardener, woodworker and builder.
He was of the United Church Christian Faith. He is survived by
his wife of 55 years, the former Betty Scott; daughters, Shelly, Frasers Mills,
Antigonish Co; Andrea (Mrs. Frank Grandy), Dartmouth; sons, Stephen
(Elaine), Fox Island, Guysborough Co; Graydon, Hants, Co;
grandchildren, Dana, Brendan, Cory, Kylee, Craig, Damian,
Tanner-Lee, Leanne, Kelly, Terri-Lee, Tammi; great-grandchildren,
Morgan, Marlee, Evan; sisters, Pauline (Ed) MacPhee, Truro;
Nancy Peters, Hazel Hill, Guysborough Co; Alice Burrows,
Toronto; Diana (Lloyd) Geil, London, Ont; Dorothy
(Doug) Hutchinson, Dartmouth; Valerie (Al) Rogers, Hannon, Ont;
June Jarvis (Joe Richard), Canso; brothers, Martin (Elizabeth),
Halifax; Norris (Jane), River John; Norman (Gerry), Dartmouth;
many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Arnold; nephews, Kevin,
Norman and Christopher Bushell; Stan Rogers; niece, Jan Perks.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Canso,
with the ashes to be scattered at The Lookout Hill, Guysborough Co.
Memorial donations to St Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Palliative Care, or a charity of choice
will be gratefully appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted
to the C.L Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish.
