MANSFIELD,GEORGE WILLIAM- 87,
South Maitland, Hants Co., died June 12,1998,
in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Guysborough,
he was a son of the late Joseph and Charlotte(Mentus)Mansfield.
He retired in 1975 after serving 29 years
with the Bridge and Building Department of the CNR.
He was a veteran of the Second World War having served
in Italy, France, Holland and Germany as a gunner
with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro.
Surviving are his wife, the former Edna Harrison; daughters, Rita
(Mrs.Phillip Lake),Hampton,N.B.;Dorothy(Mrs. George Hubley),
South Maitland; Kathleen, Bedford; Gladys,Dartmouth; Patricia; Truro;
sons, Andrew, Maitland; Charles and Leslie, both of South Maitland;
Steven,Dartmouth; Edward,Truro; sisters, Helen(Mrs. Murray Pelley)
Gladys(Mrs.Herman Pelley), both of Sunnyville,Guys.Co;
brothers, Joseph,Sunnyville; Raymond,Sackville;21 grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by
his first wife, Margaret(Robbe); son, Leo;daughter, Linda.
Visitation 2-4, 7-9pm. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home,
Guysborough. Funeral 11am. Tuesday in Wesley United Church,Guys.,
Rev. Bill Ford officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
