Funeral services for the late Blanche Mary Elizabeth McDonald, 102,
of Mulgrave, took place October 4,
in St. Lawrence Church, Mulgrave, with Rev. Hugh MacNeil officiating.
Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Mrs. McDonald died October 1,
at Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysbrough.
Pallbearers were George Brennan, Ralph MacDonald, Bernard MacDonald,
Jimmy MacDonald, Gerald Hatchette. Lector was granddaughter Paula Lowe.
Eulogist was son Bernard MacDonald.
Offertory gifts were presented by granddaughters Donna Steeves,
Shirley MacDonald and Carmel Benoit. Eucharistic minister
was grandson David Hatchette. Berkley Guthro
was altar server. Members of St. Lawrence CWL served as honour guard.
Music was provided by St. Lawrence Choir
with soloists Gillis Strachan and granddaughter Nadine McDonald.
Born in Mulgrave, she was a daughter of
the late William and Rose (O'Neil) Power.
She was a charter member of St. Lawerence CWL;
a member of Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary,
Cambria Branch 37, Mulgrave.
She is survived by four daughters,
Martina (Mrs. Gerald) Hatchette, Antigonish;
Patricia Fullerton, Brantford, Ont.; Imelda (Mrs. Eugene) Benoit,
Havre Boucher; Corinne (Mrs. Robert) Leadbetter, Ridgeway, Ont.;
five sons, Basil 'Buddy' (Mary Alice), Mulgrave;
Neil (Mary), Dartmouth; Bert, Comox, B.C.;
Ralph 'Vesty' (Eleanor), Thorburne, Pictou County;
Bernie ( Mona), Ottawa; brother, Bernard 'Ned' (Hazel),
Mulgrave; 39 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren;
a great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jimmy;
two sisters, Margaret, Kathleen; eight brothers, Patrick, Donald,
John, Frank, Vester, Fabian, Joe, Bill;
two grandsons, Eugene Benoit, Robert Leadbetter.
