James Leo McDonald

On October 26, 1955,
the death occurred at St. Martha’s Hospital,
Antigonish, N.S. of James Leo McDonald,
well known and highly esteemed citizen of Mulgrave N.S.
in his sixty-second year.

The deceased was born in Auld’s Cove N.S.
the son of the late John and Catherine McDonald.
He was a veteran of World War 1,
having served overseas with the Canadian Forestry Corps.
In 1928 he joined the Bridge and Building Dept.
of the CNR and was promoted foreman early in 1940.

Surviving are his wife the former Mary Blanche Power
of Mulgrave; four daughters Martina R.N. (Mrs. Gerald Hatchette)
Antigonish; Patricia (Mrs. Eric Blair) Brantford Ont.,
and twins Imelda (Mrs. Eugene Benoit) Toronto,
Ontario; Corinne (Mrs. Robert Lidbetter) Brantford Ont.,
five sons Basil, with the B and B Mulgrave,
Neil, London Ontario; Bertram and Sylvester
with the RCAF Trenton, Ont., and Bernard engineering student
St.F.X University Antigonish. Two sisters Mrs. Edward MacQuarrie,
Inverness, Mrs. Edward DeCoste Auld’s Cove
and six brothers, Mark Lawrence, Anthony, Joseph, John
of Auld’s Cove and William, Mulgrave, also thirteen grandchildren.

The funeral Mass was said at St. Lawerence Catholic Church,
Mulgrave with Rev. A. MacDonald officiating.
Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Pall bearers were veterans of World War 1.
