Blooper: This happened during the 1991 World Cup in China. Brandi was a newcomer to the team, and was itching to play! During halftime she got the nod from the coaching staff. She was going in. "I was hyperventilationg, that's how excited I was," says Brandi. At the midfield she received a through pass. Wtih no one in front of her, she dribbled down the field. About 30 yards from goal, Brandi got ready to score. "I wanted to score so bad, the back of my heel coud have toughed my ear, that's how much of a back swing i had. Then I kicked it..." "My kick was so powerful I took a divot of grass out that had to be a foot long." Instantly 30,000 fans began to laugh. What happened to the ball? Brandi smiles. "I don't know where it went, but it didn't go in the goal." After the game WNT goalkeep Amy Allman retrieved the divot and presented it to her as a keepsake.
