Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
God has shown us that blood is required for remission (taking away) of sin. The Old covenant required blood sacrifices. The new covenant brought the perfect blood sacrifice, for the perfect forgiveness of sin, through Christ Jesus.
Gen 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
God's law even requires a mans blood to be shed if he sheds another mans blood. Murder requires death, the justice of God. All sin leads to our death and separation from God. We need a sacrifice. Jesus died for all sins, even murderers. He is our perfect sacrifice. We receive justification, our sins legally paid for, by the substitute death of our righteous savior.
Mat 26:27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Jesus at the last supper with his followers showed us a picture of what his death and resurrection would accomplish. The cup of grape juice was a picture of His shed blood on the cross. The New testament is as his last will and testament; a new covenant of forgiveness of sins by his shed blood. By faith in Jesus, his blood brings forgiveness. We become under Gods grace and forgiveness and are not bound to the Jewish laws and customs. We also are forgiven of our sins as people not under the first covenant, for all were sinners.
1 Cor 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
We come together in unity, fellowshipping and thanking Jesus when we take the grape juice together, remembering what his blood accomplished; forgiveness and life eternal with him.
Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
The propitiation means that Jesus completely satisfied Gods just demands for judgment of sin by his death on the cross, we are completely forgiven of sins past, present and future by his blood. We are to confess our sins to stay in fellowship. We are to be as Jesus, who offered forgiveness to all, even from the cross. He is the mercy seat, the place of atonement and he also is the atonement for sins. What is the atonement? It is explained in Romans:
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Atonement; made at one with God.
1Jo 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world.
All the world can come to Jesus for forgiveness, not just the Jews. Many are called, but few are chosen, few respond to his calling. How blessed are those who receive him!
Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Justified means; just as if we had not sinned, declared not guilty by God. Do not let satan give you guilt, he may dig up your past, but God has forgiven you and forgotten your past sins, through Jesus. We are completely forgiven by Jesus' blood sacrifice. Don't let a false teacher deceive you. There is no coming to God but by Jesus and the blood shed for our cleansing. We are not children of God, until we are cleansed of sins, adopted and made the righteousness of Christ Jesus, through believing in him and his death, burial and resurrection and the receiving of the Holy Ghost.
Hbr 10:4 For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
The Jews under the law sacrificed animals to cover there sins, but they were never forgiven completely.
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Jesus' blood gives complete forgiveness to the child of God, we are no longer trying to earn Gods favor by works. However once saved by grace, we are saved into good works. Jesus does watch us, and wants us to be his truth and light in the world. Now we joyfully serve him as obedient adopted children of the light. The light of Jesus, his Spirit within, and joint heirs with him in His eternal inheritance.
Hbr 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
We no longer are required to pray to God through an earthly mediator or priest. We can boldly go to God, through Jesus, our heavenly High Priest, by the Holy Spirit within. He is our loving father our daddy and Jesus stands up for us, as our advocate.
Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Jesus is the head of the body, all his new creations, His church. God the Father has given all judgment to him. He is given all power. He shares in all that the Father is.
Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Reconciled, we are no longer enemies of God separated by sin. We are brought into fellowship, as Adam fellowshipped and walked with God. He wants our fellowship and we want to glorify him.
1 Pet 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Chosen by the foreknowledge of an all knowing God. Pilgrims foreknown by God, set apart by His Spirit unto holy living and obedience, through faith in Jesus and the forgiveness accomplished by his blood shed for our sins. Do not believe any teacher who says the blood of Jesus is not needed to come to God. God's love is through His Son.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
God new you and chose you before the worlds were created, he knows all things. We are chosen , loved, and separated to be like him.
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
You have been adopted by God as his child, an heir of all he has.
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Redemption, redeemed, bought from satan by the price of Jesus' blood, we now belong to God.
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Being bought and forgiven now you need good teachers and a church to grow in.
Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Johns heavenly vision
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Gods people overcome by Jesus' blood covering and their testimonies. Sharing what God has done in their life.
1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
The three witnesses provided by God, the Spirit witnesses to all truth, the water (or Gods word, the Bible) and the blood, there is power in the blood of christ, we are forgiven and victorious! Jesus blood has given us these things: forgiveness, a new Spirit person, adoption into Gods family, access to the throne of God, abundant and everlasting life, and power to overcome the darkness here and now. We are free to do his purpose for our lives. He gives us his power through faith in Jesus and his shed blood.
