Jesus, Creator of the worlds
Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
God spoke at different times and many different circumstances in times past by the prophets. God, the Holy Spirit wrote this epistle and the writer is unknown. Many suppose that it was written by Paul. Hebrews was written to Jews who had expected Jesus to return soon. Some were doubting their faith and returning to Judaism. This epistle shows that Jesus Christ and the New Testament is superior to Judaism. There is no going back, for salvation is through Jesus and not the works of the law.
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
There is a whole lot to ponder in this short verse. God has a Son from heaven.
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
whom he hath appointed heir of all things,
All things belong to him, he is greater than all creation.
Phil 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Phil 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Phil 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
by whom also he made the worlds;
Another word for worlds is eons, He created the ages. He is Lord of history and the future.
Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
That is absolutely awesome. Only God could do all these things and be all of this and more. Jesus is not just a man. He is eternal God, the Son, who came into a human man. They called him Yeshua, or Jesus.
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Image of the Father
Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Again, this is a powerful verse. Let us look at what this means, using scriptures to explain scriptures.
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
John 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
and upholding all things by the word of his power,
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
when he had by himself purged our sins,
1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
1 Pet 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
Mat 22:43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
Mat 22:44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Mat 22:45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
Mat 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
Mat 26:64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Acts 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Greater than the angels
Heb 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Who is Jesus related to? As a man he came from Adam, but did not inherit his sin nature. He was a child of Abraham and David and would bless all nations, but they left a declining world. Who would Jesus inherit from? His Father, God the father. After the cross Jesus returned to glory as creator of all. The angels are spiritual creations. Jesus is the creator. His name is God the Word, God the Son, Jesus, name above all names. Isaiah spoke other descriptions of the names of Jesus:
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Heb 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Luke 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Heb 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Jesus is not an angel, he is not Michael, nor is he the brother of satan. These are all false doctrines. Angels are ministering spirits.
Exo 3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
Exo 3:3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
Righteous Lord
Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
God, the Father said unto his Son, Thy throne, O God is for ever and ever.
God the Father, knows that His Son is also God; only Jesus is God's own son from heaven. False religions say that all come from heaven and become gods. Or some say we are gods within ourselves. These are false words. The very God, the Son of God from heaven, in a man called Jesus.. We are of the earth and we are sinners. To look within our hearts and to claim we are gods, is to be deceived.
Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
A kings scepter held out, grants mercy. The scepter of King Jesus is righteousness.
Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
These passages are found in the Psalms. The Hebrew people were familiar with the Psalms, but not all had connected these Psalms with Messiah Jesus.
Psa 45:6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
Psa 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Heb 1:10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Heb 1:11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
Heb 1:12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Psa 102:25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Psa 102:26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
Psa 102:27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
Jesus, the Word the creator of the heavens and the earth, He will remain forever, the creation will grow old and pass away; Jesus remains with those who trust in him.
Heb 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Psa 110:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Jesus used this Psalm to show that the Christ was the Son of God. He certainly was not an angel.
Mat 22:42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.
Mat 22:46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
Son of David and God the Living Word in one man-God, Jesus.
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
What are God's angels doing on earth? They are ministering to those who are saved, in Christ Jesus. We are the heirs of salvation. God knows who will receive him, even before salvation, the angels minister to the chosen of God. What of the fallen angels? They serve satan, to lie and to destroy. We must not pray to angels, we Pray to God. We must discern the spirits. Too many chase after angels and they may find satan's messenger in this way. Get right with God, receive Jesus as your Lord and savior from sins and God's angels will surround you and protect you. Jesus created the angels, He is God the Son.
