Luke 8:1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
He preached the gospel of the kingdom as he went through each city and village. This was the gospel of repentance and preparation for the Kingdom of God. The kingdom was with Jesus, he is the King, but the kingdom is not yet of this world. It is of the Spirit, the Spirit abides with Christ. After Christ was killed and risen from the grave, we preach the gospel of forgiveness of sin by his blood through faith. We receive Jesus and his Spirit, making us children of the kingdom.
Luke 8:2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
Luke 8:3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
The twelve disciples learned from Jesus as he preached. They saw him heal and cast out demons. The Rabbis did not teach women, but here we see that women were along side the disciples. They gave of their substance, no doubt they fed Jesus and mended his clothing and were servants to him. He allowed this, having love for them. Perhaps they were doing the same things as the disciples? There is nothing in the Bible forbidding women as missionaries. The only restrictions were that they were not to have authority over men in the church setting. As in the home, the man is to be the head.
Mary Magdalene was the first to meet Jesus after his resurrection. She was the first person he sent to tell the others. Perhaps this also was the woman who anointed his feet.
Joanna and Mary Magdalene and other women were the first to witness after the resurrection. The 11 disciples were filled with doubts and fear.
Luke 24:10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
Luke 24:11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
Suzanna, means lily, rose, joy, a beautiful name. God made women fair. The Lily of the valley, Jesus, had other flowers with him who ministered to him and for him. One thing is sure, they were not out to make a name for themselves, but to minister unto needs. Proud arrogant servants need not apply.
Sowing Seed
Luke 8:4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
Parables are stories thrown along side a spiritual truth, to make it understood from a natural viewpoint, using familiar things to illustrate Spiritual truths.
Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
The seed is the word of God sown on different soil ( hearts.)
Luke 8:6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
The soil was too hard and rocky.
Sin hardens the heart
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Eph 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Luke 8:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
The seed had no chance to grow with so many thorns around it.
The thorn bush is representing cursed ground. The heart too was cursed because of Adam's sin.
Luke 8:8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Good soil receives the seed (word) and brings a harvest.
Can you hear this story with spiritual ears?
Jesus explains the parable
Luke 8:9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
Luke 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
It is given to who to understand? His disciples, but they needed a teacher. They had Jesus. Now we are his disciples who have the Holy Spirit as our teacher and explainer of God's word.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Those who are not his disciples, he gives a story to entertain them. To the unsaved, the whole Bible is just a book of stories. They try to tear it apart using one reason after another. To those who are Jesus' disciples, the Bible is God's Holy word.
1 Cor 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1 Cor 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
The fowls of the air, are symbolic of the devil. These birds are in the church too, taking away the word.
Luke 13:18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
Luke 13:19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
Yes, there are fowls in the professed believers of God's kingdom. False ones that hinder. But we have God's Spirit to discern the truth.
Luke 8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Why go to church? Why study the Bible? To grow roots, to be established. If we only go by feelings, we will never stay put and grow. If we move every time we feel offended? You can't grow roots that way. Maybe God offends you? For he must shape you into his likeness. This may take some heat and pressure. Stay put and allow him to finish you. Roots must go down before fruit grows.
Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Luke 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
Many of those who are of the church are at this point. No fruit, unproductive because of the riches or cares or seeking the pleasures of the world. We must learn to be content in our Lord. To trust him and to continue in His word, being faithful and fruitful.
Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
The good heart is tender towards God. The word is planted and they grow roots, bringing forth a harvest in time. Patience is required and faithfulness.
Dan 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
All is of God through obeying his Spirit. To be a friend of God is to fellowship with him, to obey his wise counsel and to be enriched, giving him the glory. Amen
Shining light
Luke 8:16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
Is your candle lit? What is this light? Is it not the truth of God and the living presence of His Spirit burning in our heart? Shall we keep it to ourselves and not share in the darkness we live in? We are to let Jesus shine; shine Jesus shine. Jesus spoke:
John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
As long as Jesus is in us, he is still in the world. When we are removed. the world will be more wicked than ever. If we do the work of Jesus, we through His Spirit will keep away complete corruption. Salt is used to prevent decay.
Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
If we, the adopted children of God take on the ways of the world and it's evil, where is the light where is the salt?
Luke 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
Nothing is hid from God. The light shall shine on all things.
Luke 8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
If we obey God and use his gifts for his glory, we receive more from him. If we hide our light and our gift, it will be taken away.
The parable of the talents explains this.
Mat 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mat 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strowed:
Mat 25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Mat 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strowed:
Mat 25:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Mat 25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Mat 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Use it or lose it.
Family of God
Luke 8:19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.
His mother and brothers could not get to him because of the crowd pressing towards him. His mother knew who he was, but his brothers did not believe in him until after the resurrection. Jesus had brothers? Yes, and sisters. They thought he was a bit strange. They were from Joseph and Mary, and we know Jesus' Father is God, born of a the virgin Mary.
Mark 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
Luke 8:20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.
Luke 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
We have a physical family and we have a spiritual family. Which is closest to us? God was the Father of Jesus, so Jesus wanted spiritual family. If we are born-again of the Spirit, we desire Spiritual friends more than flesh relatives. There is not much to say to our unsaved brothers, but we can be a long way from home and still find family in the Lord. The best thing would be that our flesh family be Spirit filled. Not everyone, including Jesus had this kind of family. However, after his resurrection his brothers believed in him. His half brother James and Jude wrote the epistles by their name in the Bible. Keep praying for they are watching you, and by your witness and prayers they shall be saved too. Who is the mother and brethren of the Lord? Those who hear the word of God and do it.
James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
To do God's will and to have faith in Jesus is to be in God's blessed family.
Lord of Storms
Luke 8:22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
Jesus commanded them to go over to the other side, they obeyed him but they were not alone, he was in the boat with them. When Jesus speaks to us to do something, we are never alone, he goes with us. Normally we follow him as he goes ahead, leading us as the Good Shepherd leads his sheep.
Luke 8:23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
Can you imagine this? Jesus as a man was just like we are, he was sleepy from so many people demanding his time and his touch to heal. He slept. Be assured that he is not asleep now when you call upon him. God does not sleep.
Psa 121:4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Another man was in a boat asleep, the prophet Jonah, but he was not as Jesus, he was running from God. He also was in a storm at sea.
Jonah 1:5 Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep.
Jonah 1:6 So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.
Jonah was the problem. The storm was because God was upset with Jonah. The Mariners cast him in the sea and the storm ceased.
Jesus was not the cause of the storm, but He is the one who calms the storms of life.
Luke 8:24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Peace be still and the wind and the stormy sea was calmed.
Luke 8:25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
Only God can calm the storms. Jesus was a bit upset with the disciples in the boat. Where is your faith? What manner of man is this? It is God the Son, the son of man.
Are you a Jonah? Do you cause storms and problems by your own disobedience to God? Or are you by faith going to Jesus to calm the storms of life?
Posessed man
Luke 8:26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.
Gadarenes was on the opposite shore from Galilee. Jesus has arrived where satan has had his way.
Luke 8:27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.
A wretched, demon possessed naked man met them; his dwelling place was the tombs. Where the bad spirits dwell there is death and misery.
Luke 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
Well, this is interesting. The devils in the man knew who Jesus was; the Son of God most high. They were in the spirit world and recognized Jesus as the Lord of hosts, the Son of God. The bad spirits were cowards before God, they tormented the man without mercy, but now they cower before Jesus saying what have you to do with me, do not torment me.
Luke 8:29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
Mark 5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
What a mess this man was, but there are others in a mess today, cutting themselves as did this demon controlled man. What happens when bad spirits enter? Cutting, uncontrolled rage, "bad angel" strength, how often have we heard people speak against God as though he would restrict their freedom? Well, this man could not be restrained even with ropes and chains, but he was not free. What a miserable creature he was. True freedom is of God's Spirit. Jesus spoke to the devils to come out.
Luke 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
Many, many bad spirits were in this man.
Luke 8:31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
They begged Jesus that he would not command them to go into the deep. The deep? The pit of hell, restrained until the Judgment Day. These spirits could not die, but they could be cast into hell, not by a mere man, but by God. Jesus is the very power and image of God.
A note here. Some like to use the power of Jesus to cast out devils. This can become hocus pocus, or presumption. If you have sin in your life the demons will not be moved. We are not to be looking for devils to cast out. Some claim to be prophets, yet they do not live as prophets, sin follows them. The power of God is available in the believer and at the Lord's command the devils can be cast out. It is not something to play with as a new thrilling game. It takes fasting and prayer. You should not go around as "Wanda the witch," performing magic tricks.
Jesus explain this to his disciples, at another encounter
Mark 9:25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
This is important, to say enter no more into him.
Mark 9:26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
Mark 9:27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
Mark 9:28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
It is not the work of the flesh, but of the Spirit of God.
Isa 61:1 The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Gadarenes Evangelist
Luke 8:32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
All must submit to the authority of Jesus. He gave the legion of demons permission to go into a herd of many swine. Many demons went into many pigs, that the Jews despised as unclean animals. Unclean spirits in unclean animals. Later God would say that all things are allowed for food, pigs should be cooked thoroughly for best nutrition. God does not remove his judgment on fallen angels, the devils that torment, for them there is no repentance. Would you like to let a devil speak "angel" wisdom through you? Many do use these sly spirits to spout all manner of foolishness.
Luke 8:33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
Note that the demons did not care for the well being of the ones they inhabited. The devil seeks to kill and they gave the pigs a self destructive impulse. What happened to the bad spirits. They looked for new hosts to enter, perhaps the towns people?
Luke 8:34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.
Miracles are one way to identify the work of God, but the word and Spirit of God confirm the miracles. The towns people went out, not as evangelists, but as people angry and full of fear. Their pigs were destroyed, so they lost money from this.
Luke 8:35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
They should have rejoiced that the man was healed and at peace. Perhaps they were used to his madness. If we grew up in a bad home full of strife and bad spirits, we should want the peace of Jesus? yet, some choose more strife, being used to it.
Luke 8:36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.
Luke 8:37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.
Amazing, they had fear, and chose to keep it. They had strife, darkness, unbelief. Who was this man from Galilee across the Lake from us? Go home! you make us uncomfortable. Yes, perhaps the bad spirits had found a good home in these people? Perhaps it was just their sins not wanting the light of God? Maybe the mad man who is now saved can reach his townsmen? God is awesome.
Luke 8:38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,
Luke 8:39 Return to thine own house, and show how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
Hello, I am now the Gaderenes evangelist. Let me tell you about a man who made me whole? He can do the same for you.
Thronged
Luke 8:40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.
When Jesus returned to Galilee from the Gadarenes, the people gladly received him and were waiting for him. Jesus was popular because of his healings, some listened to his words. Where were the people when he would go to the cross? How soon people turn away, but now he was in much demand.
I read a Newsweek magazine article about Jesus becoming the Christ. The world does not understand that he is very God from heaven in the man called Jesus. The Christ, the anointed one, was and is the power of God that made the worlds, but even today, the world doesn't understand. People line up for free food even today. The emergency rooms are full of those who receive free health care, but are their hearts receptive to the very words of God? People were waiting for him as he returned.
Luke 8:41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:
Luke 8:42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.
Unusual for a Jewish leader to fall before the feet of Jesus, he was a wise man to do so. For Jesus has power to heal all who come to him with humbleness and faith. He was interceding for his twelve year old daughter who was dying. Jesus hears our intercessions and he cares for us. Humble yourself and come to Jesus for all your cares.
1 Pet 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1 Pet 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
But as he went the people thronged him.
Thronged: to be utterly choked by a great number of people. To be pressed around and to almost suffocate from so many around him.
Jesus enjoyed being in the wilderness in prayer, this is where he received from God, the Father. Now he was giving himself to others, he heard the prayer for the twelve year old daughter and he was headed towards her, but the crowd all had needs too. God in Jesus knew the needs around him. Even in the crowd, he was concerned about individuals. God cares about you too. What are you among so many? You are beloved, he died for you and cares for you, He is personal. He is a personal savior, he loves you. Come to him humbly and ask him for your needs, he cares for you with a tender heart.
Touch Jesus
Luke 8:43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
The woman spent all her money on doctors, but was not helped.
Luke 8:44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
In faith she goes through the crowd and touches the hem of Jesus' garment. and she was healed immediately. Her faith and her touching even his garment brought her healing. There is no feelings in a garment, especially with a crowd pressing in.
Luke 8:45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
Luke 8:46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
Jesus knew that someone had touched him in faith, for healing virtue had gone out from him. The healing is of God. Faith healers are used by God, he flows through them to heal. Some feel power going through them from God to the person healed. It is not of man, but of God.
1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
1 Cor 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1 Cor 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
The skeptic will say, well, if you can heal why don't you walk through a hospital and heal everyone? It isn't of man's will, but of God. Jesus willed that others be healed and they were. He is God, the Son. Jesus willed it and people were healed.
Mat 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mat 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Luke 8:47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
Luke 8:48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
It would seem that faith is required and also sometimes, touching Jesus. How do we touch Jesus? Some say when we worship him he comes and as he passes by we reach out in faith to touch him. This is Spiritual. Jesus dwells in believers, so when we assemble together in unity praising him, he is touched.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Worship and prayer touch the heart of Jesus. He may call you to heal someone, because you trust completely in him. He uses those who he trusts. Also, by faith we ask and receive of him. Never give up, he knows your condition and do not let others judge you. God is personal and Jesus cares for you. He is touched by our diligent prayers of faith.
She Arose
Luke 8:49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
Whets the use? In the natural we often see no hope.
Luke 8:50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Luke 8:51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.
He allowed no one to go in to see the child, except those of faith in him.
Luke 8:52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.
Luke 8:53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.
Now this is strange, mourning and weeping people are turned into mocking laughter. James turns this around:
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
James 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
These were hired mourners, professional weepers, but they had no faith, they were sinners. I certainly would not want to hire someone to mourn over me. Unbelief can stay outside, your services are not wanted.
Luke 8:54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.
Luke 8:55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
Unbelief was put out, Jesus took her hand and life returned to the girl. Her spirit returned, she arose. Her body needed food, go eat young lady, your body needs strength. Having problems? There is no problem too great for Jesus, only believe and get some good food, eat and stay healthy.
Luke 8:56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
Yes, a great miracle, but keep it quiet at this time, so that Jesus would be able to help others without so great a crowd of miracle seekers and devils preventing him from moving freely among the people.
