Matthew 24

Herod's temple

Mat 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple.

The temple had stood for a thousand years, but it was not as Solomon's temple. It was erected at the time of Ezra the priest. The temple was greatly expanded by Herod, it was nearly 500 yards long and 400 yards wide. It was still being remodeled until AD 63, seven years before the Romans destroyed it.

Ezra 3:12 But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
Ezra 3:13 So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.

Mat 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

The temple would be destroyed 40 years after Jesus spoke of it's destruction. The Romans set fire to it and the gold melted into the cracks between the stones. To get at the gold, they tore the temple apart stone by stone. Jesus' prophesy was literally fulfilled.

One True Christ Jesus

Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Luke 21:6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Luke 21:7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

The gospel of Luke indicates that the disciples were thinking that the end of the temple would be the end of the world. Jesus warns them of the difficult times ahead, it is a double prophecy to be applied to the destruction of the temple and at the end of the age. Jesus speaks of one of the signs of the end times.

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

One indication that the end times have begun, are those who come claiming to be Christ. It is a lying deceiving spirit in men who follow false guides. They appear as messengers of light, full of inspiring words and often speaking words of love, to draw disciples unto themselves.

2 Cor 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 Cor 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

It is very important that we know God's word so that we are not fooled by Satan's false Christ's and false spirits.

2 Tim 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

The end times began at Pentecost when Peter announced the coming of the Holy Ghost and the partial fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel.

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Acts 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Acts 2:19 And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

So, as satan brings deception, our LORD brings a greater outpouring of His power, through the Holy Spirit of Jesus. These are perilous times and times of great exploits for God's people. Are you ready and obedient? Are you walking in his Spirit? Many shall be deceived by false witnesses and many shall be saved from their sins through faith in the real Lord Jesus Christ. Will you witness for the true Jesus?

Beginning of sorrows

Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

All these things are as birth pangs of the end of the age. Wars and rumors of wars, yes. More than ever in the last 100 years. Famines and pestilence's, yes, new diseases have come about that are resistant to treatment. Earthquakes in diverse places, yes, in places that never had them, they are occurring.

Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

The Jewish people have been persecuted throughout history. In the second world war over six million Jewish people were exterminated, men women and children, by the Nazi Germans. Their leader, Hitler was heavy into the occult. It is satan who desires to destroy the Jews, for God has called them his people.

Exo 3:7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

Lev 26:11 And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.
Lev 26:12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
Lev 26:13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

Psa 44:7 But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
Psa 44:8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
Mat 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
Mat 10:24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
Mat 10:25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

Do not fear man, Israel, serve the LORD who is your eternal hope. Receive your Messiah.

Endure and continue

Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

We must seek the Lord's will in all we do. If someone is offended spiritually, they need to be restored. Offenses come also by foolish pride or emotions; this requires self-examination. All should be looked at with the mirror of the word of God. It is possible to not offend, if all are seeking God's heart. The closer we are to Jesus the more we are of one heart and one Spirit. Satan sends his thoughts and his demons to confuse things, so we need to be strong in faith. Lift up that shield. Use the sword of God's word, resist and he will flee. Forgiveness and God's love are required. Not a selfish love, but God's love is needed.

1 Cor 13:5 ( Love ) Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1 Cor 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

False prophets claim to hear from God, but they are used of satan to steal, kill and to destroy. Because they appear as the light, they deceive many. We know them by their fruit.

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Because of offenses, many will be afraid to love. Who can they trust? Love God, and those of your household of faith. Restore those who will be restored, withdraw from those who seek to divide or walk contrary to the doctrine we are taught.

Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

If we come to Jesus of our own free will, we can also leave Jesus of our own free will. Jesus saves us, not ourselves, we are saved by our faith in him, and he does the work. IF, we were not sincere, and leave, apparently we were never saved. What then? Should we fear God? Yes, we fear God and reverence him and stay closely abiding in him. He keeps us in his hand; nothing can take you out of God's hand.

2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Continue in the faith, continue to learn more and more of him, continue to praise him, continue to worship him. Do not allow your love for Christ Jesus to grow cold. For those who are His, are sealed by the Holy Spirit forever.

2 Cor 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
2 Cor 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Phil 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Phil 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Phil 4:6 Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Do not fear that you are not saved. The devil will accuse you, resist him and crawl into God the Father's lap, for through Jesus Christ you are kept by your Father, forever in his love. Encourage one another with this.

The Gospel

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

In spite of what is occurring in the world; abundant sin, love on decline because of the sin and the rise of false prophets and false teachers, the gospel of the kingdom will continue to be preached, until all nations have heard; then the end shall come. The gospel is the "good news" that Jesus Christ has come as a sacrifice to pay for our sins. Let's look at some of these good news verses.

John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
John 1:35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
John 1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Luke 24:48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

1 Cor 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1 Cor 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
1 Cor 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 Cor 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
1 Cor 15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
1 Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Cor 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
1 Cor 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1 Cor 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1 Cor 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

Flee

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Let us see what Daniel prophesied.

Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

He spoke of the desecration of the Jewish temple. So, for this to come true in our time, the temple must be reconstructed. An evil man shall set himself up to be worshipped in the temple.

Dan 11:32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
Dan 11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

The saints of God will oppose him, do great exploits, but many will be martyred.

Paul speaks further of this.

2 Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2 Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

These are Jews in Jerusalem and Judea, that Jesus is speaking to.

Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

What then?

2 Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
2 Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2 Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2 Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2 Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

You see how important it is to learn of Jesus and the word of truth? It will be too late for many, because of their continuous sins, God will give them strong delusions, so that they will be unable to receive. These are those who will receive the mark of the beast, which must include bad spirits, because God will not allow them to receive the Lord and be saved. This awful condition is hinted at in an earlier prophetic verse.

Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Do not play at religion. Hold fast to Jesus and his life giving word, lest you believe a lie. Truth is very important to me, I want all that God has for me and I want no part of lies and deception.

Great tribulation

Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Jesus warned his disciples earlier that they would face persecution and tribulation.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Paul and Barnabus warned those who were converted, that they must endure tribulation, but that they were to keep trusting, continuing in faith.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

When the man of sin is revealed in the temple. He will oppose those of God. Satan is the opposer. He will bring about a great tribulation against the kingdom of God on earth.

This is not the judgment of God, but the last rage of the devil before he is cast into the pit.

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Many will be martyred in those days. But they shall receive an eternal home in heaven.

Rev 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
Rev 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Rev 7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
Rev 7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
Rev 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Sweet Jesus, you have given us our clean white robes, through your tribulation for us. So, if we suffer with you a short time, we shall be with you forever, no sorrows, no tears, but the joy of your fellowship forever, thank you Jesus, savior, Lord and my joy.

Lightning

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

The days will be shortened so that not all of God's people will be killed before the return of the Lord. Two things are happening; the great tribulation where satan unleashes his destruction on those of God and the wrath of God which shall be poured out on the evil ones by God. The wrath of God will not touch God's people, the elect.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Eph 5:7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Rev 14:19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Mat 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mat 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.
Mat 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Miracles will come from the darkness, but if you are of the light you will be able to discern the spirits. One lady in Internet chat said that she had great powers, but she could not say that Jesus was her Lord. That is one test of the spirits; can they say Jesus is my Lord?

1 Cor 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

When Jesus comes it will be swift as lightning, all men will see and know it is Jesus. As the lightning is seen with great light and great power, coming as promised from the east, so shall he be seen to the west, so shall the coming of Jesus be, all will know the Lord.

Phil 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Phil 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Phil 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Gathering of the elect

Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

There is a lot of controversy about what this means. One thought was that birds are of satan. Another meaning for eagles are eagle-like birds, like buzzards that feed on dead things. There is one verse that sheds light on this verse.

Lam 4:19 Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

Remember, in an earlier verse, Jesus said: "Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." It wasn't God destroying his people, it was satan. The wrath of God would come against all who were evil they would not be saved. It was to save a people alive who trusted God, to inhabit the earth for the Millennium, the Kingdom of God that will be established on earth for a thousand year, with Jesus as king; these would be saved. Those souls with Jesus, or who would meet Jesus in the air at the rapture will come with him to rule with him. They will not see the second death, but have passed from death into eternal life. We have the same eternal inheritance. No second death for us. We have passed from a dead life into an eternal living presence with our Lord. Praise him, ye saints!

End of tribulation

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

The powers of heaven that will be shaken are the powers of satan, the devil and the fallen angels shall be bound.

Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

This will be the fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel, when the Lord Jesus returns to earth.

Joel 3:11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.

(The angels of God shall descend to reap the wicked harvest from earth and to gather the elect of God from the four corners of the earth.)

Joel 3:12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
Joel 3:13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
Joel 3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
Joel 3:16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

(Rev 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:)

Joel 3:17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
Joel 3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

This is the end of the tribulation. The darkness of evil will be matched by the darkness of the sun and moon. Then Jesus shall come as lightning, a brilliant light from the east to the west. The angels shall gather the tares from the wheat. It is time to separate the evil from the saved of God.

Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The elect shall be gathered unto the Lord, to Israel. The evil will be killed, those remaining will be the children who live to inhabit the earth, with Jesus as King. The glorified saints of God will be on earth too. What a site, The Lord, his glorified children and the fleshly saved children who are not yet glorified. The earth will bring forth it's beauty. New children will be born to live in a beautiful restored earth for a thousand years, with Jesus as King after the promise of king David and the King from heaven. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We will be with him for a thousand years and then all sin will be removed and we shall be in a perfect place with our Lord, forever. Thank you Jesus!

Fig tree

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Jesus uses a common example of a fig tree bringing forth leaves, as a sign that summer is coming. Some have thought the fig tree is a symbol of Israel. The rebuilding of Israel certainly would be a requirement preceding the end times. In like manner by seeing the events mentioned earlier by Jesus, we would know that his second coming is near.

Wars and rumors of wars, pestilence,
The building of the temple and the abomination, the antichrist in power
persecution and tribulation
The sun and the moon shall be darkened

Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

The generation that sees this sign was not the generation that Jesus was speaking to, but the generation at the end of the age of grace. The church, I believe will be taken out before this time. This is the church age, the age of grace and the time of the Gentiles coming to Jesus through grace. Paul explains this mystery.

Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
Rom 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Daniel, the prophet, spoke of the end times. He gave a number of days, each day amounting to one year.

Dan 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

The first coming of Jesus came as predicted, leaving seven years until completion. It is believed that the church age stopped the countdown. After the rapture of the church the clock will begin again. The countdown began at the destruction of the temple; the rebuilding of the temple is required before the end, because the abomination will take place in the temple.

Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

God honors his word and it will not pass away, all things spoken shall come about. Though creation may change, the word is eternal just as Jesus the living word is eternal.

Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

The actual day of the end, is known only by God the Father. Therefore, Jesus told us of signs, not a day of the end. If Jesus and the angels do not know the end times day, do not believe those who predict the end to come on a certain date.

Watch, be ready

Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The two times are similar, first; it will be sudden and irreversible. Judgment will come to an evil generation. Second; those who obey the LORD shall be saved, as Noah was saved through trusting and obeying the LORD. Thirdly, it will be a time of great evil, the fullness of evil shall be ended by divine judgment.

Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
Luke 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
Luke 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Because we are speaking of the second coming of Christ to earth, I do not think this is the rapture of the church. What will occur? Earlier it was said that the angels would come to gather the people. Those not trusting and obeying the LORD will be harvested into God's wrath. These could be the ones referred to as the dead, although this verse does not refer to death, but of separation.

Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

The separation could be the gathering of God's elect from the four corners of the earth.

Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Watch, especially when you see all the end time events described beforehand. We are also to expect the Lord to come in the air to receive the church at any time. The people of all ages were told to watch and to be ready; he could come for us at anytime. We certainly shall go to Jesus when we leave these mortal bodies, so, be ready.

2 Cor 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Mat 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Mat 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Servants

Mat 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

Jesus is still talking to his disciples on the Mt. of Olives, about end time things. A faithful and wise servant could be the teacher of the word; who has the responsibility to feed the Lord's people. Who is faithful?

Mat 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Mat 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

The faithful and blessed servant is the one who continues to feed the Lord's people the word of God. He will be rewarded at the coming of Jesus with a position of responsibility, because he proved himself responsible in his calling.

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

2 Pet 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
2 Pet 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2 Pet 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

1 Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1 Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
1 Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
1 Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1 Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Hell is not destruction; it is eternal torment and separation from God. Anytime a scripture is repeated, God has placed added importance to it.

Mat 13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Mat 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
