Many struggle to find the meaning of life. Let us simplify this.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
In the beginning God; in the end of this life: God.
Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
God created all there is; He created us.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
We were created in the image of God.
Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
The breath of God, the spirit of God breathed into the created man and made him a living soul. The soul was given commands: be fruitful and multiply and be caretakers of all of the creation on earth.
Gen 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Another command; take care of the Garden of Eden. But one thing was kept from him, another command of God. From the beginning man was created in God's image. God talked to man, giving him commands. God from the beginning is greater than man, He is in control of man and man was given authority to take care of the creation on earth. Now one thing was off limits to man. This was the beginning of choice. God created man with a will to choose. The will of God was for man to obey God's commands and to hear and be blessed by God. Man was given work and responsibilities. We are to continue to obey God, to hear from him and do his work that he has given to us. This is our purpose.
Disobedience and Satan
Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Adam was created a living soul. He would lived forever if he had have obeyed God. Now comes a command to not do something. This was a test to see if Adam would obey. All other commands brought blessings. This command would continue the blessings, but gave Adam a choice. The fruit of the tree of good and evil, the knowledge of evil would come from this forbidden fruit. To eat of it would be pro choice: the choice to do wrong, to see evil and to have done evil by disobedience. The result of disobeying this command would be death.
The serpent, the devil enters the garden
Always God spoke to Adam and Adam heard and obeyed. Adam was the head of the woman. She was created to be his helpmeet, completing him. She was to bless him by obeying God with him. Adam was created first. The knowledge of the tree of good and evil was given to Adam, before Eve was created. He was to share this command to not eat of this tree with his wife. She was to obey him as he obeyed God. Both were to obey God above all. If Adam were to chose wrong, Eve was to help him see the correct way. If Eve choose wrong, Adam was to correct her, for he was given the commands first from God.
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Satan in the serpent talked to Eve. Would she obey her husband as he obeyed God? She knew the command of God to not eat the fruit of the tree, but she disobeyed,. she ate and then gave to Adam to eat. She fell and helped Adam to fall. The fall brought spiritual death. The close hearing of God was interrupted by sin. The flesh choice of disobedience separated the flesh man from the spirit of God. The soul had sinned and would die. It would be cut off from God. The Spirit of man was from God, soul and spirit would continue, but it was separated from God, the flesh would die. What is this death? It is forever being separated from God. The soul created in God's image would be unfulfilled, condemned to be eternally destroyed and separated from God.
2 Th 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Satan the liar, stole away the dominion of the earth from Adam and eve. Sin entered the world.
Two voices
God is Spirit and satan, the fallen angel is a created spirit. The Spirit of good and the spirit of evil. We must now choose who we obey, for there are two voices: the voice of God, to do his commands, and the voice of satan, to serve him and sin. We must say yes to God and no to satan. The flesh has lusts and desires; the spirit of man seeks God.
Psa 32:2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
God has given us choices
Eph 5:14...Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 5:24...Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Jesus is the way to be made alive again in spirit and to be able to please God. Sin cannot come to God, but sinners can come to God the Son and be forgiven.
One way
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
What did Jesus come to do? He took our sins upon himself and took them to the cross. We are forgiven in Jesus. Grace was given to us, no longer are we of this world only, but we are made eternal sons of God with Jesus. We are better off than was Adam. We chose eternal life with God. The battle with satan is won, we must obey God only, honor people, but never submit to satan in any form. Our purpose is to love God with all our heart, love others and to hear God's commands and obey him. The Bible is full of God's commands and promises. We must study it to understand our purpose and we hear the voice of God, by His Spirit within.
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Rom 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
