Romans 5

Grace abounds through the Atonement

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 5:2 By whom (Jesus) also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Rom 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

This is not the tribulation time of the wrath of God towards the ungodly. I lost a couple of readers speaking of the coming tribulation and hell for those not saved by Grace and following Jesus. Does hell offend you? Does truth offend you and the whole word of God? We are not to only teach love, even the satanists pretend that, but also truth and judgment. If hell offends you then Jesus offends you for he spoke of it more then of heaven.

There is no wrath from God to those who come to Christ Jesus by faith. Listen to Jesus speak.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The tribulations we will endure are from, family and church members used of satan. Tribulation from the world who opposes Christ in you. Be encouraged this will give you patience. (Don't ask for patience, it comes by tribulation.)

James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Rom 5:4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Jesus said, if we endure, gaining experiences and learning to continue, we shall be saved. Your experiences become your testimony.

Acts 14:3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

We experience many things proclaiming Gods word and following him. Still we follow him. We use our experiences to help others.

2 Cor 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Our hope is Jesus Christ, his strength is made evident by Gods Spirit within us.

2 Cor 1:21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
2 Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

2 Cor 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
2 Cor 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

We have great hope and they are founded on God's promises.

Father in heaven we worship you. You have loved us through your son who has bought us from the devil to come out of the world. We endure sufferings as you did for the sake of the gospel of Christ. We Know your wrath does not come to us, but only your love and grace and the Fruits of the Spirit. You are Holy and good and we shall abide with you forever, amen.

Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

We have no strength in ourselves, our strength comes from God. Before we came to him we were ungodly. Until we receive Jesus, we have no strength. In Christ we have his strength and his righteousness and protection.

2 Cor 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Christ came and became our everything, he keeps us by His power and we rely on his strength and wisdom.

Rom 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

justified: to declare, pronounce, one to be just, righteous, or such as he ought to be

Declared righteous, by his blood. What can take away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. We are saved from God's wrath.

Wrath: orge, the word in human terms can be referred to violent passion. In referrance to Gods Justice, it is punishment:--anger, indignation, vengeance, wrath.

The blood saves us from our own violent sinning of the flesh and the wrath of God. Sin brings with it God's wrath. The blood covers us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. We are justified by faith in Jesus whose blood was shed for our sins.

Rom 4:7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Lord, we owe our lives to you and if necessary will lay our lives down for you if you so require. There is no separation now that we are under the blood of Jesus.

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Reconciled, a restored relationship, just as Adam walked with God, now we may be close by the death of His Son Jesus. He has made us forgiven and has brought us into God's family. We may call God, Father, with great affection. Not only that but we receive brothers and sisters and moms and dads in the Church family. We are reconciled into the family of God.

By his death we are saved from our sins and from his resurrection we are saved from death.

1 Cor 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1 Cor 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
1 Cor 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are free to love and serve our God as redeemed saints, bought from satan with the Lord's own blood, he is our atonement.

Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

The atonement, at one with Christ. The word also means reconciliation, but in the Old Testament it also meant that by which the reconciliation is brought about. Jesus was the way of reconciliation and he is the atonement. The atonement in the New Testiment is only mentioned in this verse.

A woman who had been in a cult for many years was tormented by a Spirit that said that she had to be the atonement. No way! and the bad spirit knew this would bring much guilt and fear. No human can be the atonement to be reconciled to God by their efforts, or by their own death. Jesus is the atonement and the reconciliation.

Thank you God that Jesus is our atonement. By faith we receice a new life. Praise your name,

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Adams sin brought spiritual death and separation from God, and all received his sin nature.

Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Laws define transgressions. Where there is no law there is no knowledge of offenses. Where there is law the lawbreaker must be accountable to the law enforcer, and the judge.

Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

Even though no one had expressly violated God's verbal command just like Adam did, they still died (showing that they had sinned) . Before sin came was life, perhaps eternal. Sin brought death until Jesus came, bringing eternal life by his obedience to the Father.

Adam is a type of Him who was to come (Jesus) in several ways: both were completely sinless men from the beginning; both did things that had consequences for all mankind.Adam sinned and Jesus brought righteousness.

Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Adam only had one "thou shalt not command";

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Adam was given the command, then he was given a help meet woman. Adam failed to instruct and enforce this one "thou shalt not." He was to to be the spiritual leader and protecter. Ever since then it has been a struggle, the woman desiring to take the autority from the man and the man failing to be the Spiritual head of the family. In Christ these things are possible.

Jesus brought dignity to human relationships and elevated woman higher then in any other belief system. Jesus restored unity in families and society. Jesus brought a more abundant life now and life eternal. Jesus the sinless man-God took our sins away and brought us into his kingdom as eternal children of God. Praise God, thank you Jesus!

Rom 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

Jesus died not only for Adam and his one offense, but for all the sins of all the people that would come to believe in him.

Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Death came about from one man's sin until Christ came. Grace now reigns in the heart's of many because Jesus has brought eternal life.

Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Adam sinned and brought death to all men. Jesus came without sin, died for us and arose from the grave. By the righteous Jesus, son of God all men are offered the free gift of forgiveness and everlasting life. Unfortunately most refuse the free gift because they will not believe; whosoever will may receive.

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Thank you Jesus for your obedience through suffering and death on the cross. You did not seek your own way but submitted to God the Father's will for you. Because you were obedient, the disobedient are offered the free gift of forgiveness of sins and life forever with you. You are Lord of my life, I have passed from death into life. Praise our wonderful Jesus, amen.

Rom 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

The law made us aware so much that we fail in the flesh, yet we are favored by God with our Lord Jesus who saves us by faith and we receive his grace.

Psa 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Psa 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Psa 8:6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
Psa 8:7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
Psa 8:8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
Psa 8:9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

We are restored as the children of God with dominion over the earth. Satan had taken this from us, Jesus gave us back His authority.

Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

The result of sin was death, satan brought sin and death. The Lord Jesus Christ has brought his righteousness and grace by faith in him also eternal life with him. Our God is a God of second chances, we should not take this lightly.

Father, thank you that you gave me a second chance. Your loving grace came in your son. I will follow him all my life, by your grace, amen.
