Chloe

Faith had been hiding in the shadows just watching her. No one noticed the slayerling as she leaned against the wall of the alley. Chloe was with her usual group of friends talking about some trial of teen life. Faith watched her with fascination for a few minutes more then stepped from the shadows.

She had fully intended on walking around the school to meet with Annie and head home. That was when she heard her name. Somehow when Chloe said it didn't sound like a curse. Faith slowly craned her head to look back at the group of sunshine preppies surrounding Chloe.

It was almost as if she didn't fit with the prepps. Sure she had that whole plaid school girl look but she didn't really look like them. Her long dark hair framed her face making the hazel eyes stand out. Faith turned her whole body toward the group but she stayed where she was.

A brilliant smile broke out across her face despite the looks that her friends were giving her. She casually said bye to them and made her way toward the other girl. Faith squinted trying to figure out what was expected of her.

"Hey Faith." The sound of her name from the other girls lips was like warm honey sliding along her skin. Faith nodded a hello but didn't say anything. Chloe started walking and Faith followed. She could feel the incredulous stares from the group of hyenas still on the school steps.

If she noticed Chloe didn't mention it. She kept on with a one sided conversation about some class or another. Faith lost herself in the thoughts running through her head. It wasn't long before she realized they were near the basketball courts at the back of the school. She stopped and Chloe turned to look at her questioningly.

"Why are you talking to me?" The other girl looked confused for a minute then hurt. Her head dropped as she stared at the asphalt then she looked up. Looked at Faith with those eyes that seemed to whirl a little. "Because I like you."

"You don't hardly know me, but you like me? Why?" The slayerling was trying her best to not sound threatening. She liked Chloe too but she liked her in a way that wasn't just friendship. Chloe was a prep, preps didn't like Faith anymore then she liked them. "I like you because...well I don't really know why I like you. If you want me to leave then I will."

The slayerling thought about it for a few minutes. Her face never displayed more then mild interest but her eyes had a curious hopeful look. For just a second she thought she saw something like want in the peppy's eyes. Faith was used to having boys look at her like that. Hell she usually encouraged it. Even a few girls had given her that look but she never entertained thoughts about that.

"You don't seem like one of -them-. You're different but I can't figure you out." Chloe looked at her with amusement and smiled. She'd won this round and managed to stay in Faith's company. "Well, I'm not a whole lot like them. I mean I don't really like all the things they do."

That piqued the slayer's interest and she raised an eyebrow questioningly. What could she possible like that the preps didn't? All kinds of thoughts ran through Faith's head but she kept them to herself. Instead she waited quietly for Chloe to continue. "It's true. I like the Beastie Boys and I like leather I like...you."

"Yeah so you said." It was almost too much for Faith to hope for. She tried not to look at the girl as she walked. This time it was Chloe's turn to stop. Faith turned around and looked at her. The look was there and there was no mistaking it this time. Chloe took a step forward closing the distance between them.

They were the same height and so close that their noses touched. Faith had never kissed a girl before but for some reason it just didn't seem like a bad thing. A long moment passed before she reacted to her situation. Leaning forward she brushed her lips to Chloe's gently urging them apart with the tip of her tongue.

Chloe willingly gave in to the kiss. Faith always did everything with an intensity, including this particular kiss. It was deep and caressing almost curious. Faith was heady with the sensations around her. The soft creak of her leather jacket, the smell of jasmine and the soft cushion of Chloe's lips on hers.

She pulled back slowly and reluctantly, her teeth raking lightly along Chloe's bottom lip. The other girl shivered in delight and Faith smiled. Chloe looked at her for a long moment the took a few steps backward. "I should get going home... see you tomorrow?"

The slayerling watched her with amusement and nodded. The other girl smiled and took off in the direction of her house. Faith stood there leaning against the basketball pole. Her tongue flicked out across her bottom lip and she smiled.
