Chloe pt 3

Faith slammed the front door on her way in. Annie was in the kitchen reading a comic book when she heard Faith enter. She looked over her shoulder to see a brassed off slayerling. Part of her wanted to rip Chloe's head off for hurting Faith, the other part of her was glad they were over. Annie was a bit possessive of her best friend and was glad she wasn't being ignored for a prep anymore.

"What's wrong Slayer?"

"Nothin'."

Faith opened the fridge and pulled out a can of soda. Thinking better of it she pulled out a can of beer instead. Max had his supply of a six pack in the fridge and Faith took it out. It'd be gone and she'd have to deal with Max's complaining but that wasn't such a bad thing considering that she didn't care about anything at the moment.

"Yeah 'nothin' leads you to drinkin' all the time."

"Go'way 'Dromeda."

"Bite me."

The slayerling finished off the first beer and sat down at the table. Annie closed her issue of The Green Lantern and leaned back in her chair. Again the compulsion to hurt the preppy rose to the surface.

"She played me and I walked right in to it."

"You talk to her yet?"

"Kinda."

"You mean you yelled and then ran away? 'Cause you're real good at that ya know?"

"You defending her now? You never liked her an' you never liked her an' together."

"Not defending anyone just sayin' you maybe didn't give her a chance to explain."

"Nothin' to 'splain shorty. I got played an' that's what I get for lettin' myself fall for someone."

Faith took the last four cans with her and went up to her room. Annie watched her go but didn't have anything to say that would make it better. As soon as she heard Faith's bedroom door close she grabbed her jacket from the hook and headed out to Chloe's house.

Annie stood on the sidewalk looking up at the huge manor that Chloe called home. For a second she almost didn't want to knock on the front door. Just as she was about to start up the walk a voice from behind her startled her. So much for being a big bad demon hunter.

"Annie...something I can do for you?"

"Chloe, yeah there's somethin' ya can do for me. How about tellin' me why you did what ya did to my Faith?"

The possessive way that Annie talked about Faith wasn't lost on Chloe. She knew that they had a special relationship because Faith had told her that much. There was a lot that Faith didn't talk about in regard to her life but the one thing that she was proud of and cherished was Annie.

Chloe looked at Annie and then walked past her to get to the front door. She motioned for the shorter girl to follow her in. Annie took a look around before following silently. When she made it inside the house all she could do was stare at the furnishings.

"Come on in to my room. Can I offer you something to drink or eat?"

"Nah I'm five by five."

Chloe looked at Annie and grinned a little. Amazing how Annie and Faith were so much alike. She could see why everyone thought they were sisters. She supposed that in a sense they were.

"Okay, well about what you asked earlier... I guess the only reply to that is that I didn't mean to hurt her. I really like her and I liked spending time with her. When Helene cornered me I freaked out and... I messed up. Honestly I don't care what the others think."

"Did'ja tell that to Faith?"

"Tried to. She kind of blew me off."

"Yeah she's good at the ticked off badass thing. I know I live with it everyday."

They smiled at each other for a second before Annie spoke again. She ducked her head and toed the plush emerald green carpet. When she looked up at Chloe her green eyes seemed a little less guarded. Or maybe it was just the lighting in the room.

"She's hurtin'. I came here really to kick your ass but... I can see why she likes ya. An' Faith would beat me in to a pile of goo if I hurt ya and she found out about it. Point is that she may never trust you again, but ya gotta keep tryin' to say sorry so that she understands it."
