Halfies

Annie sat there just watching Faith. She hadn't said a word to her best friend but her green eyes said it all. Under the admiration and respect there was simple basic want. She wanted what Faith had and she wanted it now. The tip of Annie's tongue flicked out across her bottom lip.

Faith looked out of the corner of her eye at the smaller girl. She knew what Annie wanted but she wasn't going to give it to her. With deliberate movements she licked the slowly melting chocolate off her finger. Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter chunks was Annie's favorite and Faith knew it. The torture was so worth the sticky mess on her hands.

In her mind she knew that Faith was just messing with her on purpose. But it didn't make the want any less. The ice cream just looked so good and so cold. Licking her lips once more she looked up at Faith with her best puppy dog eyes and began in a soft voice. "Faith... can I have some of your ice cream?"

Faith fought hard to keep the knowing grin from her face. Instead she responded in a bland tone. "Nope." She could hear the whine rising in her best friend's voice before she even managed to utter a single word. Facing Annie she smirked as she bit in to the chocolaty goodness on a cone.

Annie's eyes narrowed for a minute. Faith wanted her to beg and plead. Well, that just wasn't going to happen. She opened her mouth again but this time she let out as powerful a bellow as her skinny little 12 year old body could manage. "MAAAAAAAXXXXX."

Faith spun around quickly, scanning the surrounding area. Annie bellowed again for her older brother and Faith slapped a hand over her friend's mouth. Green eyes flashed triumphantly over Faith's fingers. Rolling her eyes she handed over the ice cream and sat back on the bench.

Annie took the proffered ice cream and grinned happily at her best friend. Her voice was tiny and cute and that made it all the more irritating to Faith when Annie said "Thank you." With a half groan she crossed her arms over her chest. A small head propped itself on her shoulder and smiled dazzlingly at her. Faith ignored it. Annie stuck the ice cream cone right under Faith's nose and giggled. "Halfies?"

Faith grinned back at her best friend and licked one side of the cone. "halfies."
