Review - The Tigger Movie

TTFN = Tigger's Too FuN!

I love deep, intellectual movies. The ones that leave you moved when they're over are wonderful for cleansing the soul. But there's a point where there's just too many of those movies, and you realize you need to lighten up. That's when it's nice to have something like The Tigger Movie around.

The Tigger Movie isn't going to win any intellectual awards, and it won't garner any praise from the teacher's unions for being particularly educational. But I still loved it. Seeing something I would have adored when I was five now that I'm fifteen is pretty weird, but really cool. I get the jokes that I wouldn't have gotten back then- for example, there's a big chorus number near the middle of the film that had me rolling with laughter, but the children around me were just staring with their eyes glazed over, not getting it at all. That's fine; they won't get it until they're older. At least I should hope not; one of the jokes was about Marilyn Monroe.

What's kind of strange is, on occasion I find animated musicals to be even more emotionally cleansing than the big people thinking movies. The Tigger Movie can be heartbreaking at times; it's the tale of Tigger's search for his family, but as we all know "the most wonderful thing about Tiggers is that he's the only one." I was just sobbing during the sequence where Tigger leaves Pooh Corner to search for his family tree (which, of course, is the biggest tree in the 100 Acre Woods and is covered with stripes). The little kids next to me were probably looking at me funny.

Call me weird- I like them tear-jerkin' animated flicks.

Grade - B (for bounce, I suppose *L*)
