Coming To Terms

modern women no longer bear the tears
that ages filled their cloudy orbs
like pregnant raindrops flung to earth
by thunderbolts of zeus' wrath
times have changed
and thus have changed the terms
gods of past ordained to keep in line
the daughters blessed with propensity to obey
the rules of sons the gods once
deigned to lead

modern men are responsible for the drought
that scours like sand those orbs
once wet with tears
and unveils the eyes like first sins' fruit
gave clarity to those two in primordial eve
the unjust laws the ancient gods have schemed
must come to terms without unfair demand
that their daughters shed tears
like suffering slaves
while their sons with brutal tyranny
rule the land
