The Fire

The blazing inferno refuses to die
Though I try to extinguish that fire.
But as hour after hour slowly goes by
Those flames grow stronger and higher.

Why won't that fire just disappear
And leave me alone to live my own life?
Instead, they bring confusion and fear.
Why can't those flames see I am another's wife?

It seems that fire has only one goal
Which is at odds with my current needs.
Those flames insist on living in my soul
Stirring old memories off which they feed.

How can my life be fresh and new
With the fire saying how much I still love you?
