at school you know. I gave this great gift all wrapped with a red bow. I thought that is was nice, and I wanted to keep it so;It was the one thing everyone wanted in my row. The Christmas party started and I could hardly wait, The moment had arrived, I'd been looking forward to this date. I quickly opened my present to take a look inside.I felt so disappointed! My feelings I could not hide.It was a little wooden yo-yo!The paint was sort of dull and it had a dirty string, as if it had been used a lot, you know what I mean! I just lost control of myself and let out a great big scream. Who! Gave! Me! This! Yo-Yo! Then Tommy the new kid with the holes in his shoes and jeans Smiled and said proudly,"Don't you think that she's a dream?" "It can whistle when you move it. Sounds like my mama when she sings." Then all the things I'd heard about Christmas and Jesus too, Just seemed to fill my mind and I knew just what to do.I smiled and said to Tommy, "You can use it any time." He said it was okay, his special gift was mine. I will always remember each time I take it out; That it isn't the gift but the giver,That's what Christmas is all about. by Gwendolyn C. Reid |
