The Mark of the Beast

Satan and his angels shall descend upon the earth in the last days... and shall cause many people to "believe a lie". (2 Thessalonians 2:11)

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (Revelation 12:9)

Revelation 13
"(11) And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. (12) And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. (13) And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire (lightning) come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, (14) And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. (note:wound=calamity; sword=war or judicial punishment according to Strong's Concordance) (15) And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. (16) And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: (17) And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (18) Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six (666) ."

Notice here that this mark is "in the hand" or "in the forehead". It is not a visible mark which can be seen on the hand or on the forehead.

"If any man worship the beast or his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever: and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." (Revelation 14: 6-11)

Where does this number 666 come from?

Zechariah 13
"(8) And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. (9) And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God."

God is represented in the scriptures by the number 3, as the Father, as the Son, and as the Holy Spirit. When the number ONE is divided by the number THREE (representing one-third of all people who will be saved), the answer is .333. When you divide the number THREE by the number TWO (representing two-thirds who will die and not be saved), the answer is .666. So, this number 666 simply identifies all those who do not call upon the name of the Lord God and are not saved. It is a number that applies to each and every one of us until we call upon the name of the Lord and ask for his mercy and become born from above. Futhermore, those who do not call upon the name of the Lord and ask for his mercy don't want to be saved nor will they be saved by God. They are the foolish, the arrogant, and the unwise people of this world who believe in the ways of this world instead of God's ways and cannot and will not be saved unless God should intervene in their hearts and call them to depart from their sinful ways.

How does this happen?

Jeremiah 31:3
"The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

God will affect the hearts of those whom he loves and cause them to be drawn to him for help and when this happens and they confess their sins and accept him as their lord and savior, they become a new creature, born from above with a new and resurected spirit and they are no longer counted among the two-thirds (idendified by the number 666) who will be destroyed.

In order to understand the things which are written about in the Bible, we can only find the answers in the Bible. So, when you hear about things like computer chips and other things of this world being identified with the number 666, remember that these things are of this world and not of God's world. Therefore, these things are false and have nothing to do with the Bible.

The king of Tyrus... Satan and this world

Ezekiel-Chapter 28
(12) Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou (Lucifer) sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. (13) Thou (Lucifer) hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets ("tambourines" according to Strong's Concordance #8596) and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (14) Thou (Lucifer) art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. (15) Thou (Lucifer) wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (16) By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. (17) Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

"Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth? The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth." (Isaiah 23:8-9)

Tyre (Latin Tyrus; Hebrew Zor), the most important city of ancient Phoenicia, located at the site of present-day Šur in southern Lebanon. Tyre was a major center of commerce. Herodotus, the Greek historian, records a tradition that traced the settlement of Tyre back to the 28th century BC. In the 7th century AD it came under the dominion of the Saracens. In the 12th century it was taken by the Crusaders, who kept it until 1291, when the town came under Muslim rule.

"And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:24)

John 8:44 "Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. "

Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]."

In God We Trust?

Notice that on the dollar bill it says "In God We Trust". Money has become the god that so many people worship today because when a person spends more of their time in devotion to money than they spend in devotion to God. Effectively, money has become their god. No matter where we turn today, almost everything is driven by money and many people certainly do spend more time and interest about money than they do about learning the truth about God. Has money become more important to you than God? (Matthew 6:24) "Ye cannot serve God and mammon" (God and money).

Satan's influence is present everywhere in our world today. In most cases, his influence comes from power and those that wield it for selfish or destructive ends. These selfish ends are sufficient to create malevolent and degrading effects upon society. Individuals and institutions one should fear are those that wield power over society like the corporate manager who forces mandatory overtime during the holiday season, taking employees away from their families. Another example is the elected official that supports each and every tax that burdens citizens for pointless and excessive projects. Another is the industry mogul who authorizes toxic dumping near populated areas or in the earth's oceans. Another is the marketing executive who promotes an advertisement that uses sexual innuendo to sell a children’s product... or even a religious leader that preaches intolerance and elitism from a position of moral superiority. Evil is everywhere in the world today and more prolific than it has been at any other time in history. Envy, greed, and arrogance of the rich and powerful people who control this world will eventually lead to its destruction because they look only to themselves for answers instead of turning to God.
