"There You'll Be"

Alex looked deep into Justin's eyes. "It's over, isn't it?" she asked.

He nodded. "I guess... I just wish you would change your mind."

"You know I can't do that. Your career needs to come first, not me. I can't take it anymore." she said softly.

He shook his head. "It wouldn't be that way...please, just stay..."

"I'm sorry, Justin. I have to go."

I think back on these times

And the dreams we left behind

I'll be glad 'cause I was blessed

To get to have you in my life

When I look back on these days

I'll look and see your face

You were right there for me

Alex drove down the street slowly as she wiped away numerous tears away from her eyes. She turned up the radio to drown out the sadness. She wanted to be with him, but she just couldn't. Not when she only seen him a few weeks a year.

Justin laid silently on his bed as tears ruthlessly stung his eyes. He and Alex were very much in love, but his career was tearing them apart. He had an eerie feeling he would see her again, but he shook it off, ignoring her for a brief moment. He wanted her next to him so badly, he was literally hurting inside.

In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the sky

In my heart there'll always be a place for you

For all my life I'll keep a part of you with me

And everywhere I am, there you'll be

Alex pulled in to her house and walked in. The rain fell hard outside as she turned on the lights. She walked to her bathroom and turned on the water. She slipped on her lavender, silk robe as she walked back into her bedroom. As she looked for something to sleep in, she glanced over at a picture of her and Justin. Tears immediately came to her eyes. The scene was so beautiful. Her best friend had taken it when they all went to Hawaii. It was her and him facing each other, as they lovingly gazed into each other's eyes. She placed the frame down so she couldn't see it anymore as she went back into the bathroom. All she wanted at that very moment was him. No cameras, no interviews, no secret rendevous in the airport. Just...him. He had done so much for her as a person, and now, she was gone.

"Alex, you can get through this night. If you can make it tonight, you can make it forever. You don't need him. You need stability and strength..." she told herself as she slipped into her bath. His plane left at 4:15 the next morning, and she was contemplating whether to go or not. By going, she would get to see him one more time. By not going, she would keep herself away from him as long as possible.

Justin began to pack his suitcase. He clipped his clothes into the hanging bag, and packed his Adidas sports bag with 5 pairs of sneakers. He reached into the bag and felt something. He pulled out the folded note and began to read:

Justin,
I know we're away from each other, but promise
me that you're keeping me in your heart. I
can't wait to see that plane hit the runway,
but until I do, I want you to know that I love
you more than anything in the world.

Love Always,
Alexandra

Justin set the note down carefully as he sat down next to his bed. His head sunk between his knees as the rain continued to pour.

Well you showed me how to feel

Feel the sky was in my reach

And I always will remember all the strength you gave to me

Your love made me make it through

Oh, I owe so much to you

You were right there for me

Alex laid in her empty bed as she softly touched the pillow with her hand. Suddenly, a rush of memories of her and Justin came to her mind. She remembered how many times they had sat on this very bed talking about how they would spend every moment together for the rest of their lives. She turned away to look at the wall, as she saw her alarm clock. She turned on the alarm for the next morning as she closed her eyes.

In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the sky

In my heart there will always be a place for you

For all my life I'll keep a part of you with me

And everywhere I am, there you'll be

Justin and the rest of the group sat in the dormant terminal at 4:00 the next morning. Justin didn't talk to anybody. He didn't want to. He stared outside the window to see the pitch black morning sky.

JC looked at him and shook his head as he turned to Lance. "Apparently it's over...they broke up last night."

Justin heard this comment and stood up. "Don't talk about me as if I wasn't here. No, we didn't break up. SHE LEFT ME!! In case you haven't noticed, I didn't exactly expect it. We leave on a plane in 15 minutes, and the one person I should be with isn't here. She's my life, ok? This group isn't my life!! This album isn't my life! This tour isn't my life!! SHE IS! And, until everyone understands that, you can't even begin to help me. So, do me a favor...don't say a word for a really long time!"

'Cause I always saw in you my light, my strength

And I want to thank you now

For all the ways you were right there for me

You were right there for me

For always

"Flight 415 leaving for Chicago is now boarding." the loudspeaker blared. Justin looked back one more time to see if she would show up. If he could see her one more time, he could make it. Nothing happened. He shook his head and began to walk away.

"Justin!" a voice yelled.

He turned around and saw Alex standing there with a helpless look. He took a deep breath before taking cautious steps towards her.

"I can't do it..." she whispered.

He walked over to her and stared. "No more games. Do you want this or not?" he asked.

Tears filled her eyes as she looked at him. "More than anything..." she choked. He took her face in his hands and kissed her passionately. She smiled at him and gave him a hug.

"Please come back soon..." she said softly.

He nodded as he kissed her softly. "I promise."

In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the sky

In my heart there will always be a place for you

For all my life I'll keep a part of you with me

And everywhere I am, there you'll be

And everywhere I am, there you'll be

There you'll be
