Lena MacDonald (nee MacBain)
1883-1953

------ ---------, and friends of Mrs. Lena MacDonald were greatly shocked
to hear of her sudden passing recently.
She was in apparent good health all day attending to her household duties
and post office work as usual and was stricken about 6:30 p.m.,
passing away in a few minutes.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Norton) MacBain of New Town
and had been a resident of Stillwater since her marriage to the late
Wm. A. Macdonald who predeceased her several years ago.
She was always very active in church and community work
and was postmistress for a number of years.
The funeral was held from Campbell Memorial Church of which she was a member.
The service was conducted by Miss MacFarlane, deaconess, assisted by Rev. Gordon Bannerman.
Music was in charge of Mrs. M. Cruickshanks, with Mrs. Simeon Whidden presiding at the organ.
Hymns sung were "Unto the Hills," "Abide With Me," and a mixed quartet sang "Sweetly Resting".
Pall bearers were Lester MacKeen, Arch Hingley, Hugh MacDonald,
Harold Fraser, Clarence and Eldon Archibald.
Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
She leaves to mourn their loss seven sons and three daughters,
all of whom were present at her funeral.
They are:
Alexander, Glenelg; John, Halifax;
Anna (Mrs. C. Freund) New York;
William C., New Town; Emma (Mrs. J.W. MacKeen) Fairview;
Victor, Fairview; Lowell, NewTown;
Mary (Mrs. Lester Chisholm) Stillwater;
Chalmers and Walter at home.
Also seventeen grandchildren and one sister, Emma MacBain, New Town.
