Sailor Moon was created in 1992, from the award winning manga writer, Naoko Takeuchi. The story was semi-based by another manga she wrote which was about one teenage girl named Minako who had magical powers and defended Tokyo. She was called Sailor V (Venus probably because woman are supposed to be from Venus) and had a white cat to help and guide her through her battles. This manga was called Codename: Sailor V. A year later, someone approached her and gave her the idea to change it into a five girl story with Sailor Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Moon. Naoko began to write that story, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. It later became incredibly popular, probably one of the most sucessful manga series, and anime series when it became one. Sailor Moon is basically the story of five teenage girls (one being Sailor V, the stories kind of interlock with one another) who find out that they have magical powers and can transform into Sailor Senshi, the defenders of Earth from evil forces such as the Dark Kingdom/Negaverse. They have two guides, Luna and Artemis, two talking cats (black and white). As the story goes on, Sailor Moon and her friends meet new enimies and friends such as Tuxedo Kamen, Sailor Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, the Starlights, Kakyuu, and many others. This is a lovely story with all sorts of elements mixed into it and has become a great anime/manga.
