. Downtown Shuffle: Two downtown stalwarts are moving into new digs as we speak.
Picasso's, which suffered significant fire damage recently, will be located at 64 West
Santa Clara; Mac's Club, once in the SOFA District, is looking to go a bit more
trendy/upscale by locating in a historic building in the up-and-coming Post Street area.
Downtown promoters take note: Post Street, already housing Waves, Cafe Cozine, Jon Jon's
Southern Style Cuisine, and Fuel has major potential as a destination district (e.g.,
French Quarter?). The presence of alleyways, the narrowness of the street, and the
architecture of the buildings (which looks like NYC's Tribeca in many spots) are mighty
appealing to tourists and potential residents.
. After months and months of nothing but World Wide Static, downtown San Jose's Mix 106.5
has got its Web site up and running, and it looks very classy. Not a moment too soon, as
the CBS-owned station's ratings fell substantially in the spring arbitrons, due - in part
- to KARA's (105.7, San Jose) attempt to create a more upbeat, fresh, modern identity. Go
to www.kezr.com to check it out.
. Looking for new desktop wallpaper? San Jose's own KNTV has its own webcam, perched atop
the 15-story Heritage Bank Building. The images, which feature downtown from many
different angles, are captured about every 10 minutes. Go to
www.newschannel11.com/Livecam/ to soak in the views. The site also includes the Tech
Museum's downtown web cam (updated rather infrequently, however), which pans the city
center from much closer to the ground.
. Two new, two-story office buildings are planned for Willow Glen's core business
district - one on Lincoln Ave. and the other nearby on Willow Street. This should add to
the weekday population of the area, and provide a boost for local restaurants and shops.
. Bloom & Co. plans to open a full-service hair salon and spa in Paseo de San Antonio,
next to the new Togos (which itself recently relocated from Naglee Park to downtown).
. A Kia car commercial was recently shot in San Pedro Square and on Post Street featuring
the South Korean company's 2000 line.

San Jose Downtown Association, and Kevin from the San Jose Film & Video Commission for
their tidbits this week.
