November 22 & 23, 1999 - Monday & Tuesday - combined
I didn't sleep all of Sunday night. I was very keyed up. That, and I'd drunk a cup
of cafe au lait. The caffeine kept me awake. Sigh.
I went to my office, did my thing, and then caught the bus to Yamagata. Taeko met
me at the station there and we went shopping. It was a lot of fun!
Later that night we went to Yonezawa and went to a great restaurant. We had awesome
pasta and I had an incredible almond au lait.
After supper we went back to her apartment and just relaxed. I kind of dozed off
because I was sooooo tired.
The next day, we got up at 3:30 pm. No, I'm not kidding. Taeko has a big problem
getting up! We got up and went to a temple. It was beautiful. If we had caught
it a couple of weeks ago when the leaves were still on the trees and turning, then
it would have been lovely.
After we walked through the temple grounds we went to a restaurant for some of that
famous Yonezawa beef. It was REALLY good. The restaurant was expensive, but the
food was great. Next, what do you expect when the two Queens of Karaoke get together?
We went to Karaoke, of course. For 3 hours. For the last hour I had the idea of picking
each other's songs. That was neat. We got to hear our personal favourites of the
other person's songs. Hee hee.
Then, we went to another restaurant. I had more beef, more of a yakiniku this time.
(I haven't eaten this much meat in a long time!) The waiter at this restaurant was
really sweet. He was trying to speak English to me and told me he was going to come
and visit me at New Years. (I hope that he doesn't, he's far too young for me!)
Then, it was back to Taeko's and to bed.
