January 31, 2000 - Monday
In a lot of ways this was a good day as I got many things done. I paid rent, got
more kerosene, paid my gas bill, went out for coffee on Ginza-dori, did laundry,
but there was a bad thing happen too. On my way back from my travels I had a bike
accident. It was icy and I was going up a hill and trying to turn the corner at the same time.
I am now the proud owner of a collection of bruises, which will probably grow in
number over the next couple of days. My bike is fine. I'm lucky actually, I could
have been hurt much worse.
Really though, I was so proud of myself before that, I'd been having such a great
day.
Instead of spending quality time with my computer in the evening as I almost always
do, I embossed an envelope. I needed to send something to a student who just had
a baby, and while I was doing that I received a phone call from a friend in Japan.
We chatted for a while and she commiserated with me on my injury. It was nice that someone
did! I've been feeling quite sorry for myself all evening!
After we got off the phone I decided to take a bath to see if it would help me ease
my aches and pains. It helped a bit, and also made me sleepy, so I think I'll head
off to bed now. Nighty-night.
