Signs
Mel Gibson is back and he's as good as ever in M. Night Shyamalan's Signs. This movie
tells the story of a family who have strange things happen. They find a crop circle
in their field of corn, dogs start acting mysteriously and violently and there are
strange noises in the house. At first it is easy to dismiss, but then crop circles are
on the news and all over the world strange lights appear in the sky. What is happening?
This is a movie that takes time to show family life. The children act like real children,
not little automatons. Rory Culkin as Morgan is especially good. He's wise beyond
his years, but still needs his father.
Mel Gibson, as Graham Hess, was a minister whose wife was killed in a tragic accident.
He loses his faith and leaves the church. When the strange things occur around
him he has no one to turn to except his family. Joaquin Phoenix plays his younger
brother, an ex baseball player. Together they battle an unseen enemy, always trying to
protect the important things in life, their family.
I liked this movie very much. It wasn't perfect, but it did keep me in suspence for
a long time. I enjoyed it very much. See it if you are a fan of Mel Gibson...he's
great in it.
On the Stella Starstruck scale I give Signs a **** out of 5. It's an interesting
night at the movies.
