Calaveras Big Trees State Park
About an hours drive through the mountains from my home just off highway 4 are some colossal trees. They are testimony to a time when giants ruled the earth. These massive relics can reach a height of 325 feet and a diameter of 33 feet. Some are thought to be as much as 2000 years old.
Here LadyELM and I are enjoying being in the presents of such wonders. We took three of our grandkids to see how large these trees actually are. They were amazed at the size of these massive giants.
The grandkids were astonished at the tree stump left from the logging days. They said standing on the stump and realizing the actual size was awesome. Trees of this size were exploited by entreprenurs. The discovery tree was lost. It took five men 22 days to cut it down. These giant trees are now protected. They are well worth the trip to see them.
