TROJ_SKA and TROJ_PRETTYPARK
(two trojans that keep coming back)
The Internet is a breeding place for new viruses, but in some
cases, already known viruses/trojans keep coming back.
For example TROJ_SKA and TROJ_PRETTYPARK have both
been detected for over the last five months, yet Trend
continues to receive new samples on a daily basis.
This is mostly due to the fact that A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T
SCAN THEIR INCOMING FILES. In many cases, users double-
click incoming email file attachments and accidently launch
viruses and trojans.
As an antivirus company, Trend advises all users to check all
files that come from the Internet, especially files that arrive
as email attachments.

Another Y2K threat
(W97M_CHANTAL.A)
W97M_CHANTAL.A is a complex virus that tries to activate its
destructive payload on January 1st, 2000. On that day,
W97M_CHANTAL.A tries to delete all files in the root directory,
as well as all files in the current directory (directory with
the infected document). At the same time, W97M_CHANTAL.A
also
displays the following message:
" Chantal B. 4ever! "
While Trend has not received any reports from customers, they
still advise all their users to watch out for this destructive
virus.
