All of the kids
participated in all sorts of fun activities in
addition to their riding sessions, where they
were able to try out both Western and Hunter Seat
English riding, then they were able to practice
what they were learning.
Some of the equine
educational activities we had included going over
parts of both Western and English tack, parts of
the horse, colors and breeds of horses,
discussions on safety and grooming, plus we held
a Horse Bowl where the kids had to answer all
sorts of horse related questions and received
points toward the Grand Prize.
They each also had an
opportunity to fingerpaint a beautiful Arabian
horse, plus they participated in a fun-for-all
version of Musical Chairs during which they had
an opportunity to stay in the game by correctly
naming various pieces of tack and grooming
equipment, a "stick horse race" (with
the adorable stick horses they made) and an old
fashiond scavenger hunt for horse-related items.
Then there were the
swimming sessions and our Friday night overnight
campout with a hot dog and marshmallow roast,
followed by a big pancake breakfast Saturday
morning.
On the final full day
everyone made a scrapbook containing pictures of
the wonderful time they had all week, plus each
child participating got their very own Sunlit
Farm Summer Camp 2007 commemortive t-shirt and
CD-ROM's of all the pictures from the week, plus
the 'Painted Pony' slide show. In all, the week
was fabulous!
