After booking her place into the last 16 of the
Australian Open, Anna Kournikova had to fend off
yet more media speculation on her personal life.
However in doing so, she refused to deny stories
of a possible romance.

"Well, we're just friends," said Kournikova. "I've known him for a
very long time, we played juniors together."
The pair were reportedly seen kissing in a Melbourne car park at the
Australian Open this week.
A Melbourne newspaper was told by "a source" that Kournikova and
Philippoussis "embraced and kissed passionately" as she leaned
through the window of his Porsche.
When questioned about the romance, Kournikova told a crowded
pressroom: "Not that I can tell you".
So you're not denying it? Kournikova responded: "I'm not saying
anything. I would not want to discuss my private life. No comment."
With Kournikova already adding fuel to the fire, everyone was just
waiting for Philippoussis to roll in with a gallon of petrol. He didn't.
"She's a friend, I've known her for years and that's pretty much it,"
said the men's 16th seed afterwards.
