No earthly church has ever blessed our union
No state has ever granted us permission
No family bond has ever made us two
No company has ever earned commission\\

"You are *not* married," Mom said flatly.

I squeezed Angel's hand for strength and felt his ring it hit mine. It felt good to know we shared something besides hearts and souls now.

"But how?" she asked. "You're seventeen years old and a high schooler and--"

"Pregnant," I added.

That was when she fainted.

No debt was paid no dowry to be gained
No treaty over border land or power
No semblance of the world outside remained
To stain the beauty of this nuptial hour\\

"Is she okay?" Angel asked a few minutes later when she'd come to and thrown up.

"She's....breathing." I smiled. "She'll deal."

"Are you gonna tell her..."

"No. I think just knowing is gonna have to be enough for now. Wanna go?"

"You're sure?"

"I've never been more sure of anything in my life."

The secret marriage vow is never spoken
The secret marriage can never be broken\\

I never really looked out an airplane window at night before. The way the clouds become transparent in the stars is really very cool. I glanced at Angel asleep beside me and wondered what he must see when he looks out, having better vision at night and all.

Suddenly he takes my hand in his, and I kiss him.

"Happy, Mrs. O'Tierney?" he asks.

"Extremely, Mr. O'Tierney." I smile.

"And how's the baby doing?" he very lightly runs a hand over my stomach, where I'm not yet showing.

"She's good. She's asleep."

"*She*?" Angel arched an eyebrow.

"Sara," I smile at him. "Sara Cordelia Summers O'Tierney."

"You don't waste any time, do you?"

I giggle and shake my head, and we kiss.

No flowers on the altar
No white veil in your hair
No maiden dress to alter
No bible oath to swear\\

"Think your great, great, great, I'm stopping that now, niece will like us?" I ask. Angel and I decided to live in Ireland to keep the baby safe. And besides, the marriage is more sacred there than anywhere. He has but one relative living, a distant descendant of a baby given up for adoption before he was turned. We want to find and know her, because then I think Angel will be at peace.

And I'll finally have my happiness.

The secret marriage vow is never spoken
The secret marriage can never be broken\\

"Did you tell Giles or anyone you were leaving?" Angel asked.

I shook my head. "Mom'll pass the word around."

He laughed. "You're terrible."

"But you love me, right?"

"Always."

The End
