At
the bottom of this email are two arguments - one for and one against Prop E on
the June 3rd ballot. Obviously, I am 100% in support of voting YES on prop
E and hope you will vote YES also.
The argument against Prop E is riddled with outright false statements and fear
tactics.
The claims against Prop E invent fictional scenarios (as if St. Rose would ever
want to build a 200' tower in a 45' zone at the edge of a Historic District).
Please. Shame on Cheryl Cox and Lisa Cohen for writing such rubbish.
It is inexcusable that a handful of opponents to Prop E are trying to belittle
our city's new 20 year General Plan in order to do what Jim Pieri has asked
them to do - give him special privileges that were not part of the General
Plan. Privileges that have tax advantages for him but financial and quality-of-life
disadvantages for the tax payers/homeowners of Chula Vista.
Please contact me if you have questions about redevelopment zones and what is
really at stake in this election.
We are not a bunch of ignorant fools who would let Mr. Rancho-Santa-Fe Pieri run
our community into the ground for the sake of his bottom line. He wouldn't
dream of trying deceptive tactics such as he's using in his own community.
If you are a member of St. Rose's parish, you will remember the false promises
Mr. Pieri gave to the St. Rose school back in 1998 - 2000. Promises of building
an entirely new school that would be located a considerable distance away from
his Gateway project - so that he could obtain a liquor license for a fictional
restaurant that would bring "class" to Chula Vista. As soon as
his project was approved and his plans changed, he dropped the hopes and dreams
of those St. Rose parents like a hot potato.
I urge you to vote YES on Proposition E so that all voters of Chula Vista can
have the privilege of voting on irregular projects outside the scope of our
brand new General Plan that could upset our infrastructure, our tax revenues,
our city's budget, and our quality of life. Why should three council members
have all of the fun?
Sincerely,
Jill Galvez
