How did I fall in love with you?
One Saturday morning, I got a call from Brian. He seemed really worried. All he said was to me was to come down to Howie's and bring something with me. But he did not say what to bring so I grabbed the nearest thing to me, a bottle of water and some food. I got to Howie's and knocked on the door. Brian opened the door and said, " hi. I was waiting for you upstairs in howies guest room when I saw you coming up the street." I followed Brian to howies bed room upstairs where I found the door locked . " the door is locked."I said with suspicion "yes I know. I'm trying to get Howie to open it." he said with grief."I came here early this morning and found the door locked. He locked himself inside and he wont open the door. For the last hour I have heard some sobbing." I tried my best to believe him with out saying a word. I knocked on the door hoping he would open it. "Howie! It's me. Open up. We want to talk to you." finally after many tries, he opened the door and let us in. "What is the matter?" I asked. He just stared out of the window to the street below. Brian looked outside just to see a girl and a boy about 5 years of age playing together. "Why are you looking at them?" he did not say anything to Brian. He got up and took some food from my basket, sat back down and stared out of the window again. " what is the matter Howie?" I asked. He looked at me with tears running down his face. "ever since Brian and Kevin got married, it made me think about my childhood. About a friend I used to have." he told me and Brian with depression. He held a picture in his arms and started to cry. "She was the love of my life." he put down the picture and walked out of the room. "Who is he talking about Brian?" I questioned him. "I don't know." we followed him and found him sitting on the stairway. He kept saying " Kirsten, how did I fall in love with?" he looked at some pictures of a dance floor at his old middle school. " Howie, just tell me what is wrong. Why are there so many pictures on the wall with nothing in them?" Brian asked. Howie pointed to a picture of the dance floor with nothing in it but chairs. "What are you trying to tell us?" I asked. "I asked her to a dance in 8th grade. Just as friends though because I new she did not like me." howie was devastated. "Who is she?" Brian asked. All he did was cry. We walked into the living room and he followed us. We sat down on the couch when howie snatched a picture of a man and a woman with a letter attached to it. It read:
Dear Howie,
everything in Los Angeles is great. Hope you were here to enjoy it with me. How are the guy's? Tell them that I said hi and that I wish them the best of luck in the concerts. I always have a picture of you by my side so I'll never forget you. I know you are so busy but on your time off, will you come visit me? If you will, that's great! I'll forgive you if you don't though. My new collage is good but they don't serve chocolate pudding or pizza with ranch dressing on top. For a reminder, I am studying film so we will see each other (hopefully). All of my friends so far think your sweet or that is what I tell them. Well, I'm running out of room to write so I'll make my last sentences short. To be sure that you did not forget "OUR" motto, when our troubles are far apart from life, we will always have each other. You know that if you need help, I'll always be here for you. No matter how far we are.
With lots of luv,
Kirsten
p.s., don't forget that our anniversary since we met was June 3rd. Since we were 5 years old. W/B.
Then me and Brian found out that the kids outside were when he and Kirsten where little. It was June 3rd. "That is why he was so sad! Because he loves Kirsten! Today is their anniversary." along with the letter was a plane ticket to L.A. for any day of the year. The letter also came with a phone number. "I miss her." howie said. "Come on, I'll take you guys out for ice cream if you don't talk about today." howie was a little better but still very upset. In his next letter, he wrote a three page reason why he cant go to L.A. but will come someday, and as a joke letter, he wrote a song discribing his love for Kirsten and he called it "How did I fall in love with you?"
