o:short, as in English dog

o with a line over it:long, as in English foal

u:short, as in English put

u with a line over it:long, as in English fool

Consonants

b:same as English

c:always hard as in cat

d:same as English

f:same as English

g:always hard as in good

h:always sounded as in hope

i:can be a consonant as well as a vowel; when it is a consonant, it sounds like yet

j:same as English

k:same as English

l:same as English

m:same as English

n:same as English

p:same as English

q:Always followed by a "u", sounded as in English quick

r:is rolled, like in Italian or Spanish

s:is always voiceless, as in sit (never like rose)

t:same as English

v:like the English w, as in walk
