The Racing Flags of Adam Petty

Green Flag

July 10, 1980, a Prince, a future star is born. A star that will shine

bright and capture the hearts of many as he takes to track and carries on

the legacy of the greatest name in auto racing. He will be loved not only

for his racing contributions, but also for his caring of other and all

around mannerisms.

Yellow Flag

Our star Prince must go slowly in the beginning, learning how to walk

before he run. He will be nurtured and taught the ways of the three

generations before him. How to finish school, how to treat other as you

would wish to be treated, how to use your fame and fortunes to help

yourself and others, and not let success go to your head, how to be a humanitarian,

and how to race.

Move-Over Flag

Our star Prince is ready to pursue his dream and carry the torch of the

patriarch established by the generations preceding him. He proudly

displays this flag to his Great Grandfather Lee and to his Grandfather

"King Richard". For you my great elders have done well in the on track

battles and have served our name well. But it now time for you to rest and

enjoy all that life has to offer you and let this young star Prince take

your place in the on track battles and uphold the family name.

Black Flag

Our star Prince, as well as the whole Petty Kingdom, is unfortunately

displayed this flag. The elder Monarch of the Family had passed away.

This, just a few days after seeing our Prince compete in battle against the

other mighty warriors on the Winston Cup battlefield. All our hearts are

saddened and we carry a heavy sorrow. But, the Royal Family and the star

Prince endures the sorrows and races on in loving memory of their great

Monarch Lee.

White Flag

Our star Prince returns to the smaller battles in his young career in

order to gain more knowledge, strength, and to polish his skills. Such

battle grounds as Nashville, Talladega, California, Richmond. Our star

Prince fought valiantly and hard at these battles. Each one was bringing a

wealth of knowledge and the all-important time in the trenches.

Unfortunately however, unknown to any of us, Richmond would be his next to

last great battle. His last battle would be one in which he would fight

to retain his own life.

Red Flag

It was with unbearabl saddness, earth stopping news that we all learned of the

tragic fate of our star Prince. As he and his small force of loyal

soldiers prepared to do battle on the New Hampshire battleground, a tragic

accident took place. An accident that would cease all action on the

battlefield and leave our star Prince fighting a much different battle. An

eerie, grimacing silence befell us all as we learned of the untimely

passing of our star Prince. A battle in which our star Prince could not win.

Checkered Flag

Our star Prince Adam saw the mere mortal's version of the checkered flag

for the last time in Richmond. But he was displayed a greater checkered

flag from God himself. A checkered flag that has called him to race on the

greatest racetrack of all. The same checkered flag that has been displayed

to many of our racing grates such as Lee Petty, Alan Kulwicki, Davy and

Clifford Allison, Neil Bonnet, and Wendell Scott, just to name a few. Our

star Prince will be missed greatly by his family, friends, Fans, and fellow

competitors. We can only wonder what our star Prince may have been able to

accomplish with the Petty Monarch behind him.
