~~~~~~~~~The Chase~~~~~~~~~
Great spirit above and creator of all life,
Grant me the swiftness and eagerness to push on, no strife,
My family needs food, I dare not fail,
I can see them now, whimpers and many a tucked tail,
Eyes and ears fixed forward, they shall not shift,
A large prey I must bring down, much meat I must lift,
Distant echoes of my mate cry out to the night,
My wolven heart beats faster, my paws numb, I know I must fight,
With a heavy head and weary is my body,
Gazing upon the stars that litter the black sky, never gaudy,
I know there is nothing that can stop me now,
Nothing to turn me away from what I have found, as I crouch almost to a bow,
Muscles trembling, keeping back every temptation to spring out,
Many a deer stray from their home, many scattered about,
One catching my eye, one with not much might,
Sticking out like a black fured wolf upon snow so white,
Patience is the key to this game of life,
The hunger pains cutting deep within like a thousand knifes,
Finally seeing my chance, bounding from my hiding place,
As they all scatter gracefully and swift, like leather and lace,
At last I spot my prey in which will remove my stomach pains,
Following this one all the way to the great plains,
Finding my opportunity, I attack, with one swift move,
Thinking about my family back at home, knowing I cannot lose,
A quick bite to the throat,
One last bellow was the deer’s final note,
Lifting my bloodied muzzle to the sky and howl to my mate,
"Soon I shall be home with food for all, I shall not be late!"
~~~~~~~~~Missing My Mate~~~~~~~~~

On a cold dark night like this,
I was afraid and alone,
When suddenly two golden eyes shined bright,
A warm nuzzle, great love always shown,

On a wintry night like this,
Frost bitten furs, and chilled paws and nose,
As a large black mass of fur comes curling up, so warm,
So comfortable now, laying my muzzle down I start to doze,

On a soothing dawn morning,
Opening my eyes, looking around, finding you gone,
Maybe to lap up some cool water, quenching your thirst before the day,
Maybe to hunt for us both, perhaps a deer, elk, a fawn?
Alls I feel inside is isolation, wishing your return is swift with no delay,

On a sun filled, yet a snow covered clearing, day like this,
I wait still for my mate to return to me,
Crawling outside our den, lifting my muzzle to the skies,
Missing the warmth of your nightly shade of black furs, can't you see,
Nothing I think of, only that of missing those deep golden eyes,

On a newborn night sky like this,
You finally return to me with most tender nuzzles,
Caressing my mates muscular body with my gentle eyes of icy blue,
Soft whimpers of joy and relief escape from our muzzles,
Taking in every ounce of my mate as he returns from a hunt, his pride, it grew,
With a bloodied muzzle he brings food for them both to bestow,
As they share the peacefulness of each others company, in love they are, this you know.

~~~~~~~~~Creatures of the Night~~~~~~~~~
There's a creature inside of us all,
It grows within me.
I go out into the night searching
For the moon light.
My desire Is strong,
For the need within me hungers.
I am the Wolf,
For this is the want in me.
I am not afraid,
Come what may.
I am a creature of habit,
I am a lonely soul.
The night is like a dagger,
Lonely, deep, sharp and cold.
I can take you where you want to go.
Night is calling,
I am falling.
Come to me I am,
The creature of the night.
I am a gentle Wolf,
I survive by my instincts,
I am strong for this and,
I will go on.
~~~~~~~~~Forever Soul Mate~~~~~~~~~

After the second howl into the air she sent,
No reply, no bark, no howl, what is wrong, what could this of meant?
Ears perked and tail high, she pads lightly back to her home,
If her mate was lost, every inch of forest she would comb,
Worry weighed heavy on her heart, thinking of her mate,
Wonders if he is out hunting, and is only late?
Suddenly her nose twitches, hit with a familiar, yet poisoned scent,
Growling fiercely, she knew what this meant,
Her soft pad quickly moves to a run in one swift sprint,
Arriving in a small clearing watching her mate being attacked by the one, who they call Bear,
Her mate barks harshly, "You come no closer my mate, don't you dare!"
Out looking for food to feed them both the herds soon to come,
Crossed the paths of an angry mother Bear, who had her young ones early, mind so careless and numb
For food was a bit scarce this last winter, there was not one herd to be found,
Moving forward, hackles raised, she goes to help her mate, but with one quick strike of the bears claw, her mate hits the ground,
Growling even louder this time, she leaps forward, snapping and biting at the bear, standing in front of her mate,
Knowing not of his health, or what is his fate,
Snapping, teeth bared, she continues her threats,
Finally fed up and well satisfied, the bear turns and walks away. "Let us go young ones, hurry now." The cubs nod and say "Yes, lets.."
Her hackles lowered some, baring teeth slightly disappears,
Turning to her mate, only the worst she fears,
His life blood seeping from his wounds, staining his fur coat red,
One fatal blow to his handsome wolven head,
Whimpering softly, nudging her mate, hoping he still has life,
He moves slightly, lets out a soft whimper, "Take care of yourself..for my spirit will live on within the stars..I love you"
Before he lies his head down for one final time, knowing nothing can save him, because of the wounds he bore,
She whispers into his ear, "Soon I shall join you" to him, this she swore,
The bear took his life she knows not why, she lay beside him while he starts to die,
She carefully licked his wounds but knew the darkness would come to claim him soon,
Then motionless is his body, the scent of his vital life, diminishes,
She rears her muzzle towards the sky to sing of her lost mate,
Soon she gets to her paws, knowing what was to be done,
Running off into the forest, this time not for fun,
Sprinting through her territory, memorizing every part of her land,
Near a mighty cliff she approached, full speed, and off the edge she ran.
Her and her mate now rejoined within the stars.. never to be apart..
