A Rough and Ready man was injured Sunday and a puppy was killed after the man's car crashed head-on into a Ford F 350 truck at about 9 a.m. on Rough and Ready Highway.
Dave Andrew Yeoman, whose age was not available on Sunday, is in stable condition at Sutter Roseville Medical Center, said a hospital spokeswoman.
He was flown to the hospital by a Calstar helicopter. The highway was closed for about 30 minutes while the helicopter landed.
Yeoman was traveling east on Rough and Ready Highway when the Ford Futura he was driving hit Darrell Suenram's 1999 Ford truck in the westbound lane, said Engineer Adam Ross of Nevada County Consolidated Fire Protection District's Station 87.
A black Labrador puppy in Yeoman's car was dead when emergency crews arrived, Ross said.
Suenram wasn't injured in the accident, Ross said.
No other details were available Sunday.
Consolidated Station 91, the California Highway Patrol, the Rough and Ready Volunteer Fire Department and the Nevada County Sheriff's Department all responded to the accident.
