Family members of a shooting victim still in a Roseville hospital have received encouraging signs, according to a statement they issued Friday.
Judith Edzards, 49, was still in critical condition at Sutter Roseville Medical Center on Friday at 7:30 p.m. after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during Wednesday's shooting rampage in Nevada County. Edzards, a county supervising health technician, was at the HEW building when the attack occurred.
Robin Montgomery, spokeswoman for Sutter Roseville Medical Center, said Edzards' family released the following statement Friday evening:
"Judith sustained three gunshot wounds, one to the head, one to the shoulder, one to the chest.
"The family would like everyone to know that although she remains in critical condition, they are encouraged by the news that she is responding to treatment. They also appreciate the thoughts and prayers from the community and are very thankful for the support. They would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the families of the other victims."
Another gunshot victim, Rick Senuty, 34, a resident of southern Nevada County, is recuperating at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.
He has asked his condition be kept private, a nursing supervisor said Friday night.
