Pedestrian injured on Brunswick
A Subaru Forester hit a man on Brunswick Road as he walked across the street toward Blockbuster Video at about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Driving west on Brunswick Road toward Sutton Way, Wal Bridge of Nevada City ran into the man and knocked him to the ground, he said on Tuesday at the accident scene.
The injured, bearded man's name was unavailable. He was lying on the ground with a bloody scrape on his head at 6:20 when emergency personnel arrived. His eyes were open and he was conscious.
The injured man was dressed in dark clothes and a cowboy hat and was walking across an unlit, rain-slick road when he was hit, according to witnesses on Tuesday at the scene. The accident occurred east of the Sutton Way intersection.
"I did not see him until he was right in front of me," Bridge said.
Several drivers stopped to give aid and direct traffic around the accident until emergency personnel arrived.
Ron Ferreira of Rough and Ready stopped his white Jeep sport utility vehicle past the injured man on the ground and used a flashlight to wave traffic past the scene.
Kelly Janes, 16, stopped her car and put a blanket over the injured man.
Nevada County Consolidated Fire Protection District and Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital ambulance responded to the accident.
